October Character Trait of the month is Joy
Students at CCA are focusing on Joy in the month of October. According to Bible Study Tools online, Joy is one of the most prominent themes of the Bible. From the very beginning, God's plan for mankind has been to bring us joy and peace. Throughout the Bible, we see stories of joy in response to God's blessings and celebration of His promises. From the Israelites to the Egyptians, Jesus brings joy to those who follow Him. Romans 15:13 says, "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope."
I asked Jase, Mackenzie, and Hadley what joy means to them. Jase said, "Joy means being happy.” Mackenzie said, “Having a good attitude, no matter what the circumstances are, is joy." Lastly, Hadley said, "I think joy is how happy you are and how you act around others.” --Miyah
Devotion Corner
Joy Devotion
Parents, Grandparents, and Staff, we thought you might enjoy this devotion from Proverbs 31 Ministry called: “Glimpse of love,” which is based on Bible verse James 1:2-3: “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.”

Class Spotlight: K5
Last week Miyah sat in on the K5 class to see what they've been learning. First, students sang “My Country tis of Thee”, then they prayed. Students then sang the vowels song, "a e i o u." Afterwards, Mrs. Fisher told them some riddles: “I am on your face, sometimes I run, you use me to smell” (nose), “I am very dark, when I come you go to sleep, I am the opposite of day” (night), “I am a number, I am after 8 and come before 10” (nine). She asked what all those had in common, and students responded, they all start with 'N'. N is the new letter they are learning. Students played Sparky says; if Sparky says a word that starts with N, students should stand. After Sparky say, students transitioned to seat work and worked on phonics.
Survey Says:
This week I asked the survey question, “ Would you rather go on a hayride or go to a bonfire?” Twenty three out of 100 students chose to go on a hayrides, while 77 of the 100 students chose a bonfire. Have fun this fall. Host a bonfire for your friends and family, go on a hayride with your kids, or check out a fall festival! Get outside and enjoy the beauty of fall that the Lord has given us! -Allie
Chapel
Chapel on Friday was opened with worship by the Praise Band. Pledges and prayer was given by students from 8th grade. Barry Bullock from Church of Christ was our speaker. He talked about the story of David and Goliath. He explained that David, even though a young boy, had faith in God. God gave him the strength and courage to not only fight Goliath, but to kill a lion and a bear.
Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were thrown into a fiery furnace. God was there with them, protecting them from the fire, and they walked away without even the smallest burn from it just because they believed and had faith.
Daniel was thrown into a pit of lions. Those lions were hungry, but they didn't harm Daniel because he worshipped the Lord and the Lord kept him safe. Barry explained that the Lord is with us, watching over us and guiding us right at this moment. He encouraged us to be a good example and to let others see Jesus in you. --Sophia

Volleyball and Soccer News
Soccer Action: Varsity
On Tuesday, October 1st, CCA varsity soccer had another match up against the Heartland Christian School Mustangs, but this time CCA was the host. The Patriots were ready for the Mustang’s aggressive competition. Heartland scored early in the game, but the Patriots answered right back by Leo scoring. Then, Collin was able to dribble down the field and blast a shot right into the goal, leaving the score 2-1. The Patriots were battling to keep the ball on their side of the field. A handball in the goalie box by the Mustang’s set up a penalty kick for Parker, who scored. The Patriots held off the Mustangs from scoring in the second half and secured the win by 3 more goals; one from Mason and two from Collin. The ending score was 6-1. The Patriots were thrilled about their win against the competitive Heartland Mustangs from Belton. –Brooklyn
Volleyball Action: Pink Out
On October 2nd, CCA hosted a tri-match "pink out" volleyball game. All proceeds from the bake sale, raffle, and shirts went to CCA board member, Kathy Harrison, which will begin undergoing treatments soon.
The 5th and 6th grade plus JH scrimmaged each other for fun. The final score was 34-36; CCA won! Then, Junior Varsity played Show Me and won both sets. The first set score was 25-13 and the second set score was 25-20. Lastly, Varsity played Heartland and also won both sets. The first set was 25-14 and the second set was 27-25.

Senior Fundraising
Our 2025 CCA Seniors are raising money for their senior trip which is partly a mission trip and partly a fun trip. They will be going to southeast Georgia to work in a food pantry, and Christian camp for foster children.
This year, our seniors also have an opportunity to go on CCA's very first out of country mission trip to Belize. Money raised will first go towards the Senior trip to Georgia/Florida but we have hope that if enough money is raised it will cover some of the cost to their Belize trip.
Orders have been placed for the Laundry Soap fundraiser. Thank you to everyone who supported our seniors by purchasing.
CCA Seniors also sell homemade cookies every Thursday morning! Students love this! Just $1
The CCA Seniors will have a Yard Sale in November. Mrs. Hyke will send out more information later but please fill free to save and donate your yard sale items to them to sell!
Thank you so so much for all the love, prayers and support!

FCA had their second meeting of the school year this past Friday. Coach Adams talked about sports being 24/7. He also talked about how we need to reset during the games. He mentioned a Royals player named Bobby Witt Jr. that takes a deep breath before he is up to bat each time, which is an example of how to reset during a game. When he takes a deep breath, he is also getting in the right mindset before he swings. Jeff then compared it to the sports going on at CCA right now. No matter if the volleyball team wins or loses the point during the game, they always go to the middle of the court to reset and encourage everybody, even if there were mistakes made. This shows everyone getting in the right mindset before the next serve. We should always remember to get in the right mindset and to reset if something goes wrong. We should always trust in God and use Him to help us get in the right mindset to reset in life. --Carissa
