Fall Updates
Happy Fall Pleasant Hill Families!
It is hard to believe we are a quarter of the way through the 2024-2025 school year. It has been an exciting journey so far. This is one of my favorite times of the year when we get the opportunity to set up student led conferences and sit down with all of you to share the progress your children have made.
We invite you in for student led parent teacher conferences on October 9-10 from 4:00-7:00 PM. PLEASE CLICK HERE to sign up for a time slot with your child(ren)'s teacher(s), or call the Main Office to assist in setting up your time.
Students are SO excited to share with you what they have been learning about and how they are progressing with their SMART goals they set at the beginning of the school year. Your child's teacher will send out a sign up genius link for you to easily sign up for a conference time. Please sign up for your child's conference as soon as possible if you have not already done so. It is very important teachers meet with all their students' parents/guardians.
We look forward to seeing you all very soon! Don't forget to join us for our October family engagement activities!!!
Yours in Education,
Dr. Lisa Weaver
Superintendent

October is National Bullying Prevention Month
Bullying is unfair and one-sided treatment of a peer that happens when they are being continuously hurt, frightened, threatened or being left out on purpose. In an effort to prevent bullying, schools, as well as other agencies such as The Center for Prevention of Abuse, are uniting communities around the world to educate and raise awareness of bullying prevention.
In an effort to come together – in schools, communities, and online – and send one large ORANGE message of support, hope, and unity to show that we are together against bullying and united for kindness, acceptance and inclusion...we ask that all parents and students wear ORANGE on Wednesday, October 16th for UNITY DAY. Although we won't be in school on Unity Day, we can still share our message of unity by WEARING ORANGE out in the community. To learn more about unity day, please visit the following website! If you would like more information on bullying prevention, please visit the following site!
Anti-Bullying Spirit Week October 21-25

Your child is welcome to be out of uniform throughout this week IF he/she is participating in the themes for the day and clothing is school appropriate.

It's time to FALL into Healthy Sleep Habits!
We have had several VERY sleepy kiddos coming to school. Please make sure your student is getting plenty of sleep! Sleep is the key to staying healthy and being able to learn! Check the chart below to see when your child should be going to bed.
Is screen time before bed bad for my child? Simply, YES, VERY!!! Studies have shown that screen time doesn't only keep your child awake before bed, it makes it harder for child to fall asleep and stay asleep!
Please help your child and their teachers by making sure ALL electronics are out of your child's room or turned off at least ONE hour before bed. Thanks for your help!
Calling All Volunteers
We are in need of volunteers for our extra-curricular events. Some jobs we need assistance with include keeping score, taking money at the admission gate, running the clock, or working at the concession stand for both girls and boys basketball games.
If your child is participating in a sport, we ask that you volunteer for at least TWO games to help us out. For example, if your girls is playing girls basketball, then you could volunteer at the boys basketball games so you can still cheer your girl on at her game.
It is so important we have volunteers to help out with these events so we can continue to host them. We truly appreciate any help you can give.

Important Reminders
- Our Pleasant Hill teachers and staff 💙💛🖤 to support your questions regarding our students! They have an expectation to respond to all family calls/emails within 24 hours, due to their top priority being teaching and supporting great behaviors in the classroom. Please be sure when sending questions and requests to staff to keep this in mind, in case the response is not immediate. If you have information that needs a faster response due to emergency, please call the Main Office and we can assist you.
------------------------------------------------
- Please make every effort to have your child at school by 7:45 each morning. It is important for students to be at school on time each and every day to get the most out of all learning experiences!
- It is very important that students dismissal procedures are kept consistent each day at school. When serving 170 students, we cannot take phone calls during the day to adjust dismissal procedures on a regular basis. If a change needs to be made for some reason, please be sure to send in a written note so we can make that change.
- Don't forget if your child is sick and going to be absent for the day, you will need to call the school office at 637.6829 to let us know..
- Pleasant Hill utilizes social media daily to help families stay informed about important upcoming events and learning experiences taking place in classrooms. Please follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter @PHillPanthers
- Parents Club is always looking for volunteers. If you would like to be a part of the Pleasant Hill Parents Club, please email them at parentsclub@phill69.com.
- Boys basketball for 6th-8th grade students will begin on October 22nd. If students would like to participate, they will need an updated sports physical on file with the school nurse. Coach Weaver & Coach Tate will host a mandatory parent meeting for all interested students and their parents on October 22nd at 4:30.
- Cheerleading for 6th-8th grade students will begin on October 21st. If students would like to participate, they will need an updated sports physical on file with the school nurse. Coach Comfort will host a mandatory parent/cheerleader meeting on October 21 from 2:45-3:15.
- Safety is a number one priority for our students. In order to keep our students safe during pick up and drop off, please DO NOT pass buses which have their stop arm out. Not only is it ILLEGAL, but it is also a safety risk for our students. Please stop and allow any student who is a walker to cross in front of you when you are parked in front of the school. One more reminder, please DO NOT turn around, pass anyone after dropping off your children, pull to the top of the hill to drop off and then back up down the street, or pull in the neighbors driveway . You MUST EXIT straight through the parking lot as we have one way traffic flow. Thank you for helping us keep the children SAFE!
