Weekly Update
Franklin Middle School
12.16.24
Dear Franklin Hornets Families,
As we approach the final week of school before winter break, here are some important updates and reminders that were reviewed with students during grade level assemblies.
Student Expectations
To ensure a safe and positive end to the week, please remind students of the following expectations:
- Follow all directions from staff to maintain a safe and respectful environment.
- Walk in the hallways to ensure everyone’s safety.
- Be on time to class and come prepared to learn.
We would like to finish the week before break celebrating the holiday season through fun activities and spirit days. However students that violate school expectations will receive disciplinary action consisting of suspension until after winter break.
School Safety Drill
This week students will participate in a scheduled school safety drill as part of our ongoing commitment to keeping our campus safe. We will practice our lockdown drill.
Student Bathrooms
Over the past few weeks, we saw an increase of misbehavior in student bathrooms during transition time. To avoid inappropriate and/or disruptive behavior in the bathrooms during passing time the bathrooms will be locked during transition time. Students will be allowed to use the restroom by requesting a smart pass. Students are allotted three passes a day. Expectations were reviewed with students and they are aware of the procedure for smart pass. In case of an emergency our support staff are available to unlock and monitor bathrooms during bathroom emergencies.
Winter Break Reminder
There will be no school from December 23rd to January 3rd for winter break. School will resume on Monday, January 6th.
Spirit Week
This week is Spirit Week! All the fun daily themes and activities are listed on the attached flyer. Encourage your student to join in and show their Hornet pride!
Thank you for your support in creating a safe, engaging, and spirited end to the break. We wish all our Franklin Hornets families a joyful and restful winter break!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Pringle

Bus Cancellations
If your child’s bus is canceled, please make sure to inform the school by calling the attendance line or speaking with our counseling secretary Ms. Braswell. Let them know that the absence is due to a bus cancellation. The secretary will mark your child’s attendance with a “B” for bus cancellation, which will not count against them for truancy purposes.
Coat Drive
Franklin Middle School and New Hope Baptist Church are hosting our annual coat drive for our students. We are reaching out to our Franklin Middle and Hicks Elementary communities to be of service. There are coat closets at these locations throughout the year. It is in the spirit of service that we commit to serving others. We thank you for your collaboration in this endeavor. Please send an email to Ms. Daniels at danielsr@wwcsd.net or 734-419-2409 if you are interested in receiving a coat for your student.
