Message from the Principal
We’ve had an amazing first few days of school. Teachers are excited and happy, students are excited and happy. I think we are all building back our stamina as we complete our first full week. We are also excited to re-engage as a community. Here are a couple of opportunities for you to participate in.
Back to School Night/Fall Fest
I’d like to share some upcoming changes to our Back to School Night which is next Wednesday the 28th from 4:30-5:30. We are trying a new format to improve attendance and interaction. Our intention is to provide the same information for parents, but in a fun and engaging way instead of the traditional teacher lecture format. Tomorrow, you will receive an email from your teachers with a slide presentation of all the information you would normally get at a Back to School Night. Please read through the information over the weekend. There will be a survey link for you to ask any clarifying questions that arise from the slides.
On the night of Back to School Night the classroom doors will be open and you can come visit the classroom and meet other parents. Each family will receive a passport that you should use to go to various stations throughout the school. Please visit each station and get a signature from each representative. Once you have a completed passport (visit all stations with a signature), students can trade their passport for a FREE book in the library!
At 5:30, there will be an announcement to remind everyone that Back to School Night is over and to invite you to join the Fall Fest activities. Fall Fest is scheduled to start at 5:00, so if you finish your Passport early you are welcome to begin Fall fest at that time.
Siblings are welcome, however please keep them supervised
Please keep food and drink outside
Be sure to read the slides from the teacher
Call for 2024-25 School Accountability Committee Members!
Are you a parent who likes to think big, dig into data, and advocate for improvement? Do you value consensus-based decision making and enjoy supporting your local school? The Crest View School Accountability Committee (SAC) may be for you! The SAC is an advisory team that looks at school goals, reviews school budgets, supports parent engagement, and consults with the principal on school and district priorities. The SAC is open to all members of the Crest View community.
The Crest View Elementary (CVE) School Accountability Committee (SAC) meets monthly to monitor progress toward school goals, and to advise Principal Hamilton and the CVE leadership team on the school budget, family engagement policies and practices, and overall school improvement strategies. In addition, the CVE SAC formally coordinates with the District Accountability Committee (DAC) to share school and parent input with the Board of Education. This year, the SAC intends to execute its responsibilities with a particular focus on enrollment. Our first meeting will take place from 3:30 - 4:30 PM on Wednesday, September 11.
The CVE SAC is open to all parents and community members. All are welcome! If you are interested in joining SAC, please complete this form.
Questions? Email Principal Hamilton (eric.hamilton@bvsd.org).

Free & Reduced Price Program Applications
Although school meals are free, we strongly encourage eligible families to fill out the Free and Reduced Price School Meal application; doing so might qualify your family for reduced fees and impact funding for your school. If your family received an email with a F&R notification letter for the 2024-25 school year through DirectCert, you must fill out the sharing form linked within the letter to share your status with your school to receive benefits.
If you have not received a notification letter and your household income is within the guidelines to qualify (found on right side of FRL webpage), fill out the Free & Reduced Price School Meal application found in your Infinite Campus Parent Portal of Infinite Campus under More > Meal Benefits. More program info can be found on our site. If you have questions, please contact Lola Campos-Herzfeld at dolores.campos-herzf@bvsd.org.

Attendance Update
Welcome Back to school, Cougars! We've only just begun and have had excellent school-wide attendance. Look at these numbers from each grade during the first week:
KG 96%
1st 98%
2nd 93%
3rd 97%
4th 96%
5th 95%
SCHOOL-WIDE: 96%
Last year we averaged 93% school-wide, so we're striving to maintain a goal of 94% this year! Can we surpass that?! Let's keep up this great momentum to keep our students on time and in school this year.
If your student does need to be absent, there are 3 ways to report an absence/tardy:
1) Call the School directly to tell us: 720-561-5461
2) Call the Absence line for a Voicemail: 720-561-5459
3) Infinite Campus (IC) Parent Portal: On the drop down menu, click 'More', then at the bottom 'Report Absence' https://cve.bvsd.org/school-life/attendance
