The week of May 6th-10th, MES will be hosting the Aquatic Mobile Lab at our school! We are looking for volunteers to help with this throughout the week. We would need 1 volunteer in the morning and 1 volunteer for the afternoon. If you are able to stay the entire day, please sign-up for the AM and PM slot for that day. Thank you so very much!!

Send in 2 Liter Bottles

We are looking forward to the mobile lab coming to MES! We are asking for your 2 Liter Bottles being donated to help with one of the labs. Students will build an aqua terra column to investigate the connection and interaction between terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. Please send them in during the week of April 29.

MES Was Among the Gold Star Recipients


The St. Mary’s County Health Department announced the recipients of he Gold Star Achievement Awards given annually to food service facilities that achieve superior food safety standards. We had 26 St. Mary’s County Public Schools receive a Gold Star Award for 2023.


The requirements to earn the Gold Star are:

● No critical violations

● No temperature violations were cited during a monitoring inspection

● A 30-day follow-up inspection must correct all violations noted by an inspector

● No confirmed unsafe food handling complaints

● At least one food service worker completed a recognized and approved “Food Service


Sanitarian and Safety Class” within the last two years

Summer Food Service Outreach: SMCPS "to-go" meals for the summer at LHS, CHS, OES, and SRMS are offering 5-day meal pick-up on Mondays starting June 10th. Parents must pre-register their children by filling out the form linked below or bringing them to the site when they pick up meals.

St. Mary’s County Public Schools, in collaboration with Healthy St. Mary’s Partnership, is hosting a Surf the Mental Health & Wellness Wave: A Resource & Education Fair on May 18, 2024, from 10 AM-3 PM, at the James A. Forrest Career & Technology Center. Come interact with and gather information from over 35 Mental Health & Wellness vendors. There will be numerous guest speakers and presentations on several different mental health and wellness topics. Use the QR code in the health fair flyer to view the schedule of events. Parents or guardians of children receiving special education and related services were mailed the Maryland Special Education Parent Involvement Survey from the Maryland State Department of Education, Division of Special Education/Early Intervention Services during the week of February 12, 2024. Parents are asked to complete the survey and return it in the postage-paid envelope by May 24, 2024. The Survey may also be completed online. Your feedback will help guide efforts to improve special education and related services in your local school system.
