South MS Friday Blast

Thanks go out to everyone who came out Tuesday evening to support the spring musical fundraiser at J.T. Banker's, as well as everyone who came out to the fabulous 6th grade honors band concert at North MS on Wednesday evening. It was a sleepy week as we recovered from a fabulous super bowl win! We hope everyone who is going into the city tomorrow for the Eagles parade has a safe and wonderful time celebrating.

Pennridge South Middle School’s Scholastic Book Fair will be held from February 19th-26th in the library. We will also be open to the community on Friday, February 21st from 6:00 - 7:00 P.M. Please help us to encourage your children to get excited about the Book Fair!

Online Book Fair: If you wish to support the South Middle School Library but can’t make it to the Book Fair in the building, you can visit the Online Book Fair to make purchases. The musical is rated G with a run time of about 1 hour 5 minutes plus a 20 minute intermission. It is the musical comedy retelling of the classic fairytale The Princess & the Pea.

RamPacks invites everyone to participate in our first school and community food drive. Each school in the Pennridge community will be assigned a specific food to collect from February 10-26. South MS has been assigned to the collection of individual containers of cereal. There will be one collection container in the South MS main office for students and staff to contribute to the food drive. Let's all work together to help our kids and their families.

Parents/guardians who are interested in volunteering for school events must have current clearances on file with our district office. If you are new to volunteering in our schools, click here and scroll down to Volunteer Clearances for all the information you need to obtain the required clearances. For your convenience, the district office is offering extended hours for volunteers to drop off their paperwork from 3:30-5:30PM at the district office on the following dates:

• June 16th

1. Please remind students to charge their laptops every night.
2. Please remind students of the importance of listening carefully to AM and PM announcements for up-to-the-minute information that might affect their school day schedule.
3. If your child is going to be absent from school, please call the school office at 215-257-0467 to inform us of the absence, or e-mail us at SMSattendance@pennridge.org with your child's name, grade, and reason for absence (illness, family trip, etc.).
4. If your child is being dismissed early for any reason (dentist appt, doctor appt, family trip, etc.) please call the school office at 215-257-0467 or e-mail us at SMSattendance@pennridge.org with your child's name, grade, and reason for early dismissal.
5. If your child is going to be arriving late to school, please call the school office at 215-257-0467 or e-mail us at SMSattendance@pennridge.org with your child's name, grade, and reason for tardiness (overslept, not feeling well, etc.) to inform us of the late arrival.
6. Notification of absence, early dismissal, or late arrival will help us notify your child's teachers why the student is not in class. Thank you!
