Dear Parents,
As we prepare our students for the future, it is essential to introduce them to the concept of career exploration. By encouraging them to explore different careers at an early age, we can help them develop a sense of curiosity, passion, and purpose. Here are some tips to guide you in this exciting journey of career exploration with your child:
Start with Conversations: Engage your child in conversations about different careers. Ask them what they would like to be when they grow up and listen attentively to their responses. Encourage them to ask questions about different jobs and share stories of professionals they find inspiring.
Expose Them to Various Professions: Expose your child to a wide range of careers through books, movies, and real-life experiences. Visit career fairs, museums, and local businesses to provide them with a glimpse into different professions. Experiencing various job environments can ignite their imagination and expand their understanding of the world of work.
Encourage Exploration and Discovery: Foster a sense of curiosity by encouraging your child to explore their interests. Help them identify activities, hobbies, or subjects they enjoy and show them how these interests can be connected to different careers. For example, if they love animals, discuss veterinary medicine or wildlife conservation as potential career paths.
Utilize Online Resources: The internet offers a wealth of resources for career exploration. Use age-appropriate websites, such as career-oriented games, quizzes, and videos, to introduce your child to different professions. Websites like CareerExplorer for Kids, National Geographic Kids, and Kids.gov provide engaging content to spark their interest.
Reach Out to Family and Friends: Connect your child with family members, friends, or acquaintances who work in various fields. Arrange for them to have conversations or even short job shadowing experiences. Personal connections can provide valuable insights into specific careers and create lasting impressions.
Visit Career Days and Guest Speakers: Stay informed about career days or guest speaker events organized by the school or community. Attend these events with your child, as they offer opportunities to meet professionals from diverse backgrounds and gain firsthand knowledge about their careers.
Promote Entrepreneurial Thinking: Encourage your child's entrepreneurial spirit by supporting their creative ideas and helping them explore potential business ventures. This mindset cultivates skills such as problem-solving, innovation, and adaptability, which are valuable in any career path.
Focus on Skills and Interests: Help your child recognize their unique strengths, talents, and interests. Discuss how these attributes can align with different careers and emphasize the importance of pursuing work that they find fulfilling and enjoyable.
Emphasize Continuous Learning: Explain to your child that learning doesn't end in school but continues throughout life. Highlight the importance of acquiring new skills, adapting to change, and embracing lifelong learning as they navigate their future careers.
Lead by Example: Share your own career journey with your child. Discuss the different jobs you've had, the skills you've developed, and the lessons you've learned along the way. By sharing your experiences, you inspire them to explore their own career paths with enthusiasm and an open mind.
Remember, career exploration is an ongoing process that evolves as your child grows and develops. It's important to support them in exploring different possibilities while keeping an open dialogue about their interests and aspirations. Together, let's nurture their dreams and guide them towards a future filled with purpose and fulfillment.

Color Run Is Coming
Brimfield’s Bee Healthy Color Run
Friday, May 31st
4th/5th grade Student Leaders are proud to present Brimfield Elementarys
Annual Color Run on Friday, May 31st!
Primary grades (K-2) will walk/run half a mile, intermediate grades (3-5) will walk/run 1 mile.
How the COLOR part works:
− The race course in the field behind the school will have color zones where Student Leaders will spray non-toxic wet color (water, food color, & vinegar) towards the students’ torso for each lap completed. Color zones can be bypassed if a student does not wish to go through.
We will use the following indicators for student participation in color zones. If a student is wearing:
WHITE/LIGHT Colored Clothing = I want to be COLORED
BLACK/DARK Colored Clothing = I do NOT want to be COLORED
Race day:
− On May 31st send your child to school wearing white (if he or she wants to be sprayed with color) or black (if he or she does not want sprayed with color) and appropriate running shoes.
− Students may dress up with tutus or any other fun run clothes that you don’t mind getting colored. Sunglasses or goggles are recommended.
− The wet color is non-toxic and might wash out of clothing. However, we recommend that the students wear clothing you don’t mind getting colored. We also recommend your child brings a change of clothes and a Ziploc bag for his or her shirt.
− You may wish to have a towel for car riders to sit on for the ride home.
Fundraising:
− There isn’t a set amount in order to enter the Color Run. All donations are appreciated and will go towards Brimfield Elementary’s Student Leader Fund. The 4/5th grade Student Leaders will vote on how the monies raised will be spent to help the school next year.
− Students should NOT go door-to-door fundraising. Please only have students ask friends and relatives to sponsor their run.
Prizes:
− The class that raises the most money will win a Silly String Party!
− For every $5 a student collects, he or she will receive 1 raffle ticket to be entered for prizes.
Important Dates:
− Permission slips are due by Friday, May 24th
− Pledge forms and donations are due by Wednesday, May 29th
− Brimfield Elementary’s Color Run will be held on Friday, May 31st

94.9 WQMX radio NEWS!
Congrats to another Nacho Average Teacher Winner, Kristine Swartz of Brimfield Elementary School, 2nd grade! She won a $25 Gift Card to La Mexicana Cantina and Grill!
Lynde said, “Mrs. Swartz is second to none for second grade teachers! Our son needed some extra attention and love this year, and she has provided that, even beyond what we were hoping for. She quickly gained his trust and he absolutely loves going to school each day now. She has gone above and beyond to cultivate a safe and fun learning environment for her kids! She often sends home extra things she knows will help foster growth in our son. She kindly gives us a call every now and then to keep us updated, even into the after-hours she is still at the school working to prepare for the next day. Her dedication, time and love she pours into her students is seen and appreciated!”

PBIS CORNER
What is PBIS?
Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports is an important part of the school environment to encourage positive behavior. There are clear expectations throughout the school that are taught consistently throughout the year. The four expectations promoted at Field Local Schools are:
Safe
Outstanding
Accountable
Respectful
When students do not respond to teaching of the building or classroom expectations, we will view it as an opportunity for re-teaching, not just negative consequences. Students still receive consequences for negative behavior. The goal of the consequence is to teach students so they will not repeat the negative behavior.
