Veterans Day Celebration
In recognition of Veterans Day, we will host our fourth annual Veterans Day Celebration on November 11, 2019. We invite (invitation attached here) our students' family members who are veterans and active service members to join us as we honor and celebrate their service. As a part of our celebration, we are creating a Heroes Wall of Honor. If your child would like to participate, have him or her complete the 'My Hero' form that can be printed from here. Please return the form to your child's teacher or the front office by November 4, 2019. We also ask that our kindergarten and first-grade students wear red, our second and third-grade students wear white, and our fourth and fifth-grade students wear blue on November 11th for the assembly. Thank you for your participation in helping us honor the men and women who serve our country.
Strings Update
3rd Grade
We have sailed out to sea and have started to put our left hand fingers down. Please make sure your violinists finger nails are trimmed so they can properly put their finger tip on the string.
We are fast approaching our open house on Wednesday, December 4th. Here is the specific time that you should come (when your child has strings class):
Ms. Fortmann 10:20-10:50
Ms. Galanti 10:50-11:20
4th Grade
Fourth graders are working on a Chromebook video project where they record themselves playing a piece and submit it to our strings Google Classroom. Please help your young musician remember to bring their instrument to school for rehearsals on Mondays & Wednesdays.
5th Grade
Fifth graders have started working on the All-District Orchestra music by practicing Rustic Dance. Please help your young musician remember to bring their instrument to school for rehearsals on Mondays & Wednesdays.

Musical Notes
Mr. Spector, Music Teacher
Kindergarten is continuing to explore the difference between steady beat and rhythm in music. After delving into spooky autumn tunes, we are ready for trying out music of various styles from different genres and decades of music history. Movement will play an important role in the next unit of learning.
First Grade - as we prepare for Veterans Day we also will take a look into the world of folk dance music and explore that with various movement exercises.
Second Grade is enjoying their review of music literacy terms and exploring body movement with various folk dances.
Third Grade is beginning their orchestra project unit featuring a piece by Benjamin Britten called Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra!. This exciting opportunity transitions so that students are creating their own orchestra dioramas. We are also working on folk dances from around the world.
Fourth Grade is beginning learning movement and folk dances from around the world.
Fifth Grade is venturing into the world of popular music and musicology. We will study different genres of popular music and focus on the genres’ forms for expression. This follows after an intense study of complex rhythms using sixteenth notes, eighth notes, and triplets.
