November 2023
Letter from the Principal
As we embrace the colorful foliage and cooler weather, we want to keep you informed about the exciting happenings at Miltona Science Magnet school. It's been a wonderful month filled with learning, growth, and fun. Here's what's been going on and what to look forward to in the coming weeks:
Family Holiday Meal: With the Holiday Season just around the corner, our wonderful FNS staff is planning for our annual Family Holiday Meal. We'll be having our Holiday feast at school on Thursday, November 16th. We invite parents and families to attend. If you are available to attend, please contact the main office to purchase your tickets. Unfortunately, we are not able to charge accounts so please plan accordingly.
Outdoor Learning: We're making the most of the autumn weather with outdoor lessons and activities. Our students are exploring nature, learning about the changing seasons, and taking advantage of the crisp air for engaging educational experiences. To culminate this learning, we've hosted a Fall Festival for the younger grades and a Wildlife Management activity for the older grades.
A very large thank you to those who have served our country in the armed services. Miltona Science Magnet school is very thankful for you and the sacrifices you have made. We will be honoring our Veterans through an in-person event. We will be hosting our event on Monday, November 13th.
Reminders: As the weather gets colder, please make sure your child is dressed appropriately. Layers and warm clothing are essential for outdoor play and safety. Don't forget to label all their clothing to minimize loss. Also, a friendly reminder that students will be going outside for recess, morning and afternoon, until the temperature with windchill is -10 degrees.
The school-wide Social and Emotional Learning theme for November is empathy. This month we will be reminding students to identify their own feelings and the feelings of others, notice and respect when feelings are the same and different, and show compassion. When students can identify, understand, and respond in a caring way to how someone else is feeling, it creates a positive and accepting school climate.
Thank you for your continued support in making Miltona Science Magnet school a vibrant and enriching place for our students. We look forward to another month of growth, discovery, and community-building.
Wishing you all a warm and wonderful November!

Common Vocabulary
All parents want their child to do well in school. One way to help your child is to help them build their vocabulary. Beginning readers use knowledge about words to help them make sense of what they're reading. The more words a reader knows, the more they are able to comprehend what they're reading or listening to.
Talking to and reading with your child are two terrific ways to help them hear and read new words. Conversations and questions about interesting words are easy, non-threatening ways to get new words into everyday talk. Here are some common vocabulary words we are using at school:
