Growing in Faith Together

One of the ultimate goals of young adult ministry is to help young adults embrace the mission of Christ. Paul Jarzembowski, Associate Director (Laity) for the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) Secretariat of Laity, Marriage, Family Life, and Youth, explains the goal and its objectives:

Connecting young adults with the mission of the church in the world — To invite young adults, through healthy relationships, work and studies, to embrace the mission of Christ to promote the building of the kingdom of God in the world today, thereby bringing about the transformation of society. Objectives:

• Forming a Christian conscience: To help young adults form their conscience based on the Gospel and on the church’s moral and social teachings.
• Educating and working for justice: To provide educational and service opportunities for young adults to practice the Gospel values of justice, peace, and care for the less fortunate in the workplace, at home and in the local community.
• Developing leaders for the present and the future: To invite, train, support, and mentor young adults to be leaders in society and church life.

Men's Weekend May 29 - June 1, 2025

Young adults are invited to a Cursillo weekend this year! Cursillo (pronounced cur-see-you) means "little course" in the fundamental teachings of Jesus; as it is lived by Christians. It is Spanish since it was founded in Spain by Eduardo Bonnin. The goal of the Cursillo Movement is to make Christ the prime influence in today’s society. The three day experience begins on Thursday evening and ends on Sunday afternoon. Cursillo is conducted by a team of priests, deacons religious, and laypersons (including young adults!). The young adult ministry from St. Benedict Parish in Bloomfield/Canandaigua has a monthly Young Adult Coffee After Mass! Coffee After Mass follows the 9:00 a.m. Mass at St. Mary's Church in Canandaigua. It is a great way to find community with other young adults and dive deeper into what was heard at Mass.
