DID YOU KNOW?😲
Parking in Surrounding Neighborhoods
Shadow Mountain Drive
Drivers! We need your help with our after school pick-up protocols. There has been an increased number of cars parking on Shadow Mountain Drive, and other streets, that is causing safety issues for our students during after-school pickup. We have many students who live in the surrounding neighborhoods or who are getting off the bus from our middle schools to walk home. There have been some concerns with cars parking in surrounding streets and causing safety concerns for many of our students. When drivers are blocking traffic, sidewalks, etc., this becomes unsafe for our students as they are trying to safely find their way home.
Please DO NOT park on Shadow Mountain Drive, or any other surrounding neighborhood streets to pick up your student. Please use the pickup areas in the parking lots. Thank you for your cooperation with this.
2025 CDO Automotive Community Service Project
In early January, the Canyon Del Oro Auto Club and Boy Scouts of America Troop 211 came together to help our local community. Thanks to Harbor Freight Tools for Schools, we were able to buy a shed and two playhouses for the preschool students at Coronado K-8. Over 25 participants from CDO and from Troop 211 built the shed and playhouses from scratch and presented the items to the school. Great job team!
Academic Decathlon Takes Second Place in Regionals!
Congratulations to our AcDec team for a fantastic showing at Arizona AcDec Regionals last weekend! We took 2nd place overall and five of our students placed in the top 3 of their division! Every single student on the team earned at least 2 awards, and we are on the top 4 in state seedings. Go Dorados! 🌟

🤩 Teacher Celebrations 🤩
Congratulations to Ms. Christman!
Former President Biden Honored More Than 300 Americans with the Nation’s Highest Award for Science and Mathematics Teachers. On January 13, 2025, 306 STEM teachers were announced as recipients of the prestigious Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching.
Congratulations to CDO's very own Jill Christman for being chosen as an Awardee of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching for Secondary Education. The Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) is the highest recognition that a kindergarten through 12th grade science, technology, engineering, or mathematics teacher may receive for outstanding teaching in the United States. Up to 110 teachers are recognized each year.
Presidential Awardees receive a certificate signed by the President of the United States, a trip to Washington D.C. to attend a series of recognition events and professional development opportunities, and a $10,000 award from the National Science Foundation.
Congratulations to Mr. Ronstadt!
Congratulations to Ms. Thomure!
We are proud to announce that our very own Ms. Thomure is among an elite group of 84 Arizona educators who earned National Board Certification (NBCT) in 2024. The National Board of Professional Teaching Standards announced score and achievement status information in December 2024, and we had great fun surprising Ms. Thomure with her hard-earned banner. Ms. Thomure has earned the highest certificate an educator can achieve in the United States!
Girls Who Code
AMEA South-Central Region Honor Festival - CDO Music Dept Results
Our Orchestra, Choir and Band Programs each had a number of students participate in auditions for the AMEA South-Central Regional Honor Band/Orchestra and Choir Festival that will be held on Feb. 14-15, 2025 at Sahuarita High School. This year, all four CDO students will also travel to Germany in June to stay with their partners, attend a German school, and do some local sightseeing.
