👉 What's Happening This Week 👈
Hope you all survived Halloween—because if you thought a sugar-fueled night of costumes and candy was wild, brace yourselves for what’s coming! Today’s a half day for Diwali celebrations, and next week brings a rollercoaster of three more half days and two full days off. That’s right, buckle up, because the real treat is a week of "extra quality time" with your little goblins. Stock up on coffee, maybe hide some of that leftover candy for yourself, and prepare for the ultimate parental endurance challenge. Deep breaths…we got this!
Diwali, also known as the Festival of Lights, is a major Hindu holiday celebrated by millions around the world. It typically lasts five days, with the main day of celebration marked by lighting oil lamps, setting off fireworks, sharing sweets, and spending time with family and friends. Diwali symbolizes the victory of light over darkness and good over evil.

It's Scholastic Book Fair Time!! 📗📘
We'll be open for business on Monday, Nov 4th and Tuesday, Nov 5th.
Please refer to the shopping schedule below to see when your child will be attending with their classroom.
We're accepting cash, credit cards and eWallets for payment. If you're setting up an eWallet for your child, go to www.scholastic.com/bf/CASFall24, scroll down to the eWallet section and click "GET STARTED."
Teachers are not creating Classroom eWallets for this specific Fall Fair because our classroom libraries are well-stocked at the moment.
If you're interested in contributing in other ways to the Book Fair, a small donation towards "Share the Fair" would be much appreciated. Share the Fair funds will be used to make sure that every student at CAS is able to purchase a book at the Fair. You will be able to contribute to Share the Fair on the eWallet setup page.
Thanks,
Courtney Supple & Rachel Currie

CAS Parent/Teacher Conferences Nov 4th, 5th & 6th
Evening parent/teacher conferences will be held on Monday, Nov 4th between 5pm - 8pm. Daytime conferences will be held on Tuesday, Nov 5th & Wednesday, Nov 6th between 1:30 - 3:45pm. All three days are single session days with students being dismissed at 12:45pm. Teachers have begun to reach out to schedule in-person conferences. At your child’s conference time you may be meeting with one or more of your child’s teachers. We kindly ask that you be on time for your scheduled conference time as our teachers will be busy with back to back meetings and have an allotted time for each conference. Teachers are equipped to share out various aspects of student progress as well as individual data points such as your child’s reading level, writing samples, and in-class assessments. We hope to continue to remain as partners in your child’s education.
CAS Veteran's Day

Missing Something? CAS Lost & Found is Full!
The CAS Lost & Found is overflowing with sweatshirts, jacket, and hats. Please check it out during Parent Teacher Conferences and reclaim your lost belongings. Any items that have been at the CAS Lost & Found longer than two months will be donated in December.
Donate to the CAS Student Council Thanksgiving Food Drive!
The CAS Student Council is collecting food items now until Wednesday, Nov 13th. All donated items will be sent to the Interfaith Food Pantry.
CAS Book Club will be open Nov 11-16th!
This program helps add books to the CAS library through your generous donations. Your donation will buy high-quality, specially bound books in the genre of your choice. When the books arrive, Mr. Paradiso will invite your child to pick one from their chosen genre. A special label honoring your family or child will be placed inside, and your child will be the first to check it out from the library. This will be open from the week of November 11th through the week of December 16th. Stay tuned for more info as we get closer.
CAS holiday shop will be open Dec 2nd & 4th! 🎁
With Halloween soon behind us and the end-of-the-year holiday season fast approaching, The CAS holiday shop will soon return for all of your children’s holiday shopping needs. This event was a huge hit last year, giving the kids a chance to purchase little gifts for the family members and friends. More information coming in November, but for now, please consider donating your reusable shopping bags to the holiday shop committee. The team pre-labels each one and distributes them to the children prior to their shopping day to hold all their items.
Blue Tiger Reading Challenge 📘📘
A friendly reminder to submit your Blue Tiger Reading Challenge minutes by the end of the day on Tuesday November 5th! The form to submit your minutes can be found here! The first monthly winner will be announced Wed, Nov 6th, and prizes will be passed out the following week! Submit your minutes and help your team win!
A reminder on how this competition works: the entire school is broken up into 4 teams. Students will keep track on the calendar how much they are reading at home each night. At the end of the month, they will submit their minutes to Mr. Paradiso on the monthly google form. This form can be found here, in their library google classroom, in the PTO newsletter, or on the CAS library website. Whatever team reads the most minutes each month will win a custom 3D printed keychain, courtesy of Mrs. Walch.
We are also working together as a school to see if we can beat our score from last year, which was 1,080,788 minutes. Please try to encourage your students to participate in this fun challenge, and Mr. Paradiso will send reminders near the end of each month to remind students/parents to submit their minutes on the Google form. Please contact Mr. Paradiso with any questions.
