River Mill Elementary - August 4, 2023

Dear River Mill Families,

We are looking forward to the upcoming 2023-24 school year! There has been a lot of activity taking place at our River Mill campus during the summer which includes many seismic upgrades and some additional updates to the building as a whole. These improvements were made possible when the district was awarded an almost 2 million dollar seismic grant. We will share more specific information about the work in a later communication.

Keeping families informed is a priority of ours. We will continue to use this Friday newsletter to communicate upcoming events, important information, celebrate students, and share out resources within the Estacada community.

We're certain you're curious to know who your child's teacher will be for this school year. You will be able to access this information Power School beginning August 11th. Please know that students have been placed in classrooms with many considerations. We want your child to be where they will be the most comfortable and do their very best! We look at each student as an individual, their unique learning needs, and the chemistry of the classroom to build a culture of learning. We know that your student will benefit from the amount of care put into this process, and we look forward to watching them grow with their new teacher.

Staffing Update

Some of our staff members have taken on new roles within our school this year, and we are excited for their next adventures. Mr. Wilensky will now be an Instructional Coach who will partner with our teachers as we all work on our ongoing improvement efforts. Mrs. Litherland will now be supporting students through her new role as an English Language Learner Specialist, working to support all students’ language acquisition skills. Sam Krabel will be teaching 5th grade students this school year and her students will benefit greatly.

We also have some new staff members joining our River Mill team for this school year:

We are welcoming Ashley Kelley and Kaytrina Schlatter to our 3rd grade team. Both have previous teaching experience and are excited to join our River Mill team.

Jordan Lenchitsky is an experienced teacher who will be joining our 4th grade team. Her passion and experience are only part of what make her a great addition.

Lacy Norvald will be joining our 1st grade team and has taught this grade for many years. She will jump right in and be an asset amongst our team. We are in the midst of finalizing our 1st Grade long term Substitute Teacher who will cover Bri Jury’s class while she is on maternity leave.

Katherine Zeis is also out on maternity leave, and we are in the midst of finding the best candidate for that position during her absence and we have complete confidence that we will.

Meet & Greet, August 24th, 5:30pm - 7:00pm

We invite you to River Mill Elementary's 2023 Meet & Greet on August 24th, 2023. The event will take place outdoors where you will have the opportunity to meet your child's teacher, drop off school supplies, and have any initial questions answered or get support.
