Let's "Gobble" Up Some Gratitude for Our Teachers!
This November, we’re decking out one of our bulletin boards with thanks for our amazing teachers! Help us "feather" our Staff Appreciation Turkey by decorating the feather sent home with your kind words or artwork. Just write, draw, or color your feather and return it before conferences to watch our turkey grow! Let’s show our teachers they're worth all the "trimmings!"
Let's Fuel Our Teachers for Conferences! Help us keep our amazing teachers energized during parent-teacher conferences! Visit the link below to sign-up to donate snacks, drinks, or your time. PBIS Recognition Assembly
We are excited to bring back our monthly PBIS Assemblies for a second year! Our school will be focusing on a monthly PBIS (positive behavior interventions and support) theme that promotes being respectful, responsible, and safe. As a part of these assemblies, we will be recognizing a Student of the Month from each class who has worked hard to promote and display positive behaviors associated with that theme! Our theme for October was manners and kindness. For the students, this looks like saying “please” and “thank you”, listening when others speak, and helping teachers and peers.
Congratulations to these students for the month of October!

Thank You Veterans
South Elementary thanks all our veterans, especially Mrs. Arroyo (Army), Mr. Chaix (Navy), and Mr. Pawlak (Airforce) for visiting and sharing their military service with all of our students. All three of these veterans' careers and uniforms are being exhibited in our glass display cabinets. South students have been learning about veterans in their encore classes. Students wrote letters to veterans, created patriotic chains, made poppy drawings, and worked collaboratively on American flags and posters saluting veterans. These projects, along with red, white, and blue stars representing South's students and staff's veterans are hung and featured in the hallways of South school. Coin and food donations were given to the Veterans Path to Hope organization in Crystal Lake. Thank you to all our families that helped send in donations and names of their family members that are veterans.
