PfISD Students Excel at Texas State IT Symposium: Win Security Competition
PfISD high school Programming and Software Development students recently attended the annual IT Symposium at Texas State University. The event featured lectures on IT topics, university and data center tours, and competitions in PC troubleshooting, Microsoft products, and Cybersecurity. PHS student Zan Clevenger took home first place in the Security competition, while HHS’s Ben Wang earned second place. This hands-on experience allowed students to examine advanced IT concepts, explore a postsecondary computer science program, and showcase their skills in a competitive setting.
Programming and Software Development is a computer science CTE program available at Connally, Hendrickson, Pflugerville, and Weiss high schools. The program prepares students for postsecondary education and employment in Information Technology (IT) fields like cybersecurity, networking, programming, and software development. There are course options for college credit and industry certification too! Looking for something more? Students in the P-TECH Computer and Information Technology Academy at Connally High School can earn an Associate’s degree in Cybersecurity from Texas State Technical College before high school graduation! P-TECH applications open in January, all current grade 8 students are eligible to apply and transportation is provided.
Learn more about CTE programs and the P-TECH CIT Academy here.
