ROCKET NEWS
JANUARY 2025
Kindergarten Registration
We look forward to beginning our journey with you for the 2025-2026 school year. Following Kindergarten registration, we plan to have additional orientation and screening events in the spring.
Theatre Week
Counseling Corner
Thank you to everyone who donated for the Toys for Tots collection in December. We are so grateful for your help in making children happy this holiday season. Additionally, thank you to the Allendale Ambulance Corp for allowing us to collaborate for this important cause! The Rocketeers did an excellent job decorating boxes and posters, making announcements, and creating a special video for Reynolds School! Great job, Rocketeers!
In January our first group of Rocketeers will be finishing up their session. If your 2nd grader is interested in being a Rocketeer for the second half of the year, they will have an opportunity to apply in mid January. After an information session with Mrs. Slacin and Ms. Titunick, 2nd graders will have an opportunity to interview and share why they are interested in the program. Additionally, all second grade teachers and specialists will have a chance to recommend students who always follow the code of conduct and go above and beyond to spread kindness to others. The current group of Rocketeers also have the ability to apply again. We look forward to seeing all the wonderful things our Rocketeers do for Reynolds School for the remainder of the school year!
A Glimpse Into our Learning Lab

Art Update from Mrs. Rockwell
The art room has been busy at the end of 2024 and new projects are on display in the hallways for 2025!
In Kindergarten students learned all about different lines and used them to create a “Line Rainbow Monster Alien”. They enjoyed putting together their creatures using paint sticks and they got to practice cutting and gluing.
First Grade created “Critter Color Wheels.” Students got to mix their secondary colors using tempera paint and learned about the order of the color wheel. Students transformed the circles into animal or bug critters and some students made up their own.
In second grade students learned about the artist Vasily Kandinsky and how his abstract art was inspired by music. Students learned how the art elements of shape, line and color can create abstract art if we vary shape size and overlap. Using bold black lines also adds interest. Students had the opportunity to explore color using watercolor pencils which were a new material for most. Students really loved this project and they look AWESOME!
Health Office - Importance of Washing Hands
The Importance of Washing Your Hands
Washing your hands is essential for preventing the spread of germs and keeping everyone healthy. Germs can easily enter our bodies through our eyes, nose, mouth, and hands, especially after touching contaminated surfaces.
When Should You Wash Your Hands?
- After using the restroom
- After blowing your nose, sneezing, or putting your hands in your mouth
- Before and after handling food
- After petting or touching pets
- Before and after contact with someone who is sick or may not feel well
- After touching dirty surfaces
Practicing good hand hygiene not only protects you from illness but also helps prevent the spread of germs and infections to others.
Remember to wash your hands regularly!
Winter Reminders
Also, please use extreme caution when navigating through the parking lot in the morning and afternoon. Keeping a safe speed and being mindful of others is important to ensure that everyone arrives and leaves campus safely.
Finally, be sure that children are dressed appropriately for the cold weather. Even when the temperatures dip a bit below freezing, children go outside for recess. The fresh air and time to run help to make the afternoons more productive. Hats, gloves, and a warm coat should be standard winter apparel. Please label all items with first and last names.
