11th Grade Physicals
The Pennsylvania Department of Health has directed that all students entering school for the first time (kindergarten, first grade, or transferring from out-of-state or out-of-country) shall have a physical examination performed by a physician in the state of Pennsylvania. This regulation also applies to students transferring into our School District from in state where transferred School Health Records do not meet this criteria. Examinations are required again for all students in sixth grade and in eleventh grade. We encourage you to have this examination completed by your family doctor who is familiar with your child's health history. Physical examinations done within the year prior to school admission will meet the state health regulations. Please ask your healthcare provider to complete the physical form and then return the completed form to your child's assigned school in an envelope marked "Attention School Nurse."
Students who do not provide an examination report form from their private health care provider will be examined by the school doctor. Parents will be notified prior to the exam and be given the opportunity to attend.

SUMMER ACADEMICS
English Language Development Summer Skills Program
Students in the ELD program are encouraged to participate in the Summer Skills Program. They will be eligible for incentives based on the time and progress they make in their assigned programs over the summer. Eligible students and parents should have received an email from Ms. Spoll before the school year ended with their program Username and Password. Please see the attached flyer for more information and contact Ms. Spoll at tami_spoll@sdst.org if you have any questions.
Language Arts Department
The Language Arts Department believes that choice and agency fosters an enthusiasm for reading. We recommend and strongly encourage all students to complete independent reading throughout the summer. Since independent reading develops students into stronger and more robust readers, we think this will give students increased readiness for their Language Arts courses. This approach contributes to improved student engagement and increased student voice and agency resulting in more authentic reading experiences.
We hope students will select readings for enjoyment and know that by connecting with the stories they read, students will learn about themselves and others, become more sophisticated readers, and grow into engaged, empathetic, and curious learners.
Math Department
All students are required to complete a summer math packet prior to the start of class in September. These packets will be assessed during the first week of school. The math packets and additional resources can be found on this Summer Math link. Any questions regarding the packets should be directed to Mr. McCaslin at corey_mccaslin@sdst.org. There are no packets for AP Statistics, Academic Statistics, or Business Math.
AP Psychology
Due to the College Board redesign of the AP Psychology curriculum, there is no summer assignment at this time. In early-mid August, you will be invited to join a Google Classroom. Please check there for any important information you may need prior to the start of the course in September. If you have any questions, Mrs Fusarelli will be checking email periodically over the summer. Thanks everyone, I'm looking forward to learning with you next year!
World Languages Department
The World Languages Department is proud to announce the inauguration of our STHS Global Scholars Program, beginning in the Fall of 2024. This program is sponsored by the Pennsylvania State Modern Language Association and affords students the opportunity to meaningfully select interdisciplinary studies and activities that will lead them to develop global awareness and better prepare themselves for personal and professional success in an increasingly global society. Please take a look at the following attachments for more information and student meeting dates.
