Message from the John Glenn Administration
We know that this time of the school year can be challenging, but it's also a period of immense opportunity for growth and achievement. The Administrative teams and I want to share some motivation and tips to keep you going strong.
Set Clear Goals: Take a moment to reflect on your goals for this marking period. What do you want to achieve academically and personally? Having clear objectives can fuel your motivation.
Stay Organized: A well-organized approach to your studies and responsibilities will reduce stress and make it easier to stay on track.
Celebrate Small Wins: Don't forget to celebrate your achievements, no matter how small they may seem. Every step toward your goals is worth acknowledging and celebrating.
Ask for Help: If you ever feel overwhelmed or stuck, remember that our school community is here to support you. Reach out to your teachers, peers, and school counselors.
Embrace the Holiday Spirit: The holiday season is upon us, and it can be a source of inspiration. Use the joy and goodwill of the season to fuel your determination.
Remember Your Future: Each assignment, test, and project brings you closer to your future aspirations. Keep that vision in mind, and let it drive your efforts.
Stay motivated, stay focused, and let's make the second marking period a great one!
Please remember as the weather turns colder, no ski masks or hoods can be worn in the building. This is a student safety and security matter.

Student Council Attends Leadership Training Institute
Twenty-four students attended the Leadership Training Institute in Frankenmuth this past week. They were able to work with students from all over the state on group dynamics, communication techniques, and team building. We were also able to bond and form memories that will last a lifetime. A lot of fun and learning was done by all.
THEY'RE BACK!!!
This week kicks off Music Monday, Lunchtime Games, and Trivia Thursday. Each Monday and Thursday, Leadership students will play a portion of a song or ask a trivia question. The class with the correct caller with the right answer will receive a treat. Also, most Wednesdays, students can participate in Lunchtime Games at all lunches. Leadership students will lead fun, easy, minute-it-to-win-it-style games for students to participate in and possibly win prizes.
Hot Chocolate Fridays
This Friday also kicks off our Hot Chocolate Fridays. Students will collect orders for cups of hot chocolate at all lunches for $1. The hot chocolate will be prepared and delivered to the student's fifth- or sixth-hour class.

Attendance
Regular attendance is crucial for your child's academic success. Please make every effort to ensure your child attends school on time every day and stays throughout the whole day. Consistent attendance throughout the school day allows your child to engage in learning and maximize their educational opportunities fully.
Illness: If your child is not feeling well and cannot attend school, please notify us immediately. Students who are ill should not attend school to prevent the spread of illness to others.
Excused Absences: We understand that there may be instances when your child needs to be absent due to illness, medical appointments, family emergencies, or other legitimate reasons. Please notify the school in advance whenever possible to classify the absence as excused.
Unexcused Absences: Unexcused absences negatively impact your child's education. Absences without valid reasons will be considered unexcused, and appropriate actions may be taken per district policy.
Timely reporting of absences helps us maintain accurate attendance records and ensures that your child's absence is properly documented. Absences must be reported within 24 hours.
There are two convenient methods for reporting your child's absence to facilitate efficient communication and accurate attendance records.
You can notify your child's school through the dedicated attendance line. Please leave a detailed message stating your child's name, grade, and reason for absence.
You can report absences directly through MiStar, our secure online portal for student information. MiStar provides a user-friendly interface that allows you to submit absences.
Thank you for your ongoing support in creating a positive and productive learning environment for all our students.
