From the Principal
Dear RedHawk Parents and Guardians,
As we approach the final stretch of the school year, staying updated on your child's progress is essential. With just three weeks left, now is the perfect time to check their grades and ensure they're on track for a successful finish.
Reviewing your child's grades together this weekend provides a valuable opportunity for them to reflect on their performance and address any areas that need improvement. It's also a chance to celebrate their achievements throughout the year.
This time of the year can be hectic, but it's crucial to encourage our students to complete any outstanding assignments or make-up missed work. By doing so, they can enter the final weeks feeling confident and prepared.
Remember, your involvement in your child's education is incredibly important, and checking their grades regularly is one way to show support and keep them accountable.
Thank you for your continued partnership in your child's academic journey.
Enjoy your weekend!
Tim

School Supplies for 2024-2025 School Year
SchoolToolBox.com - This is the fastest and easiest way to get school supplies shipped directly to you! If you prefer to shop yourself, you can find our school supply lists on the Wredling website towards the bottom of this page.
We often get calls asking which box(es) to order as the School Tool Box website can be a little overwhelming. Generally, the school supplies you will need are in the GRADE BOX at each level (6th Grade Box, 7th Grade Box, 8th Grade Box) If your child is enrolled in Infinity or RISE, you would pick that box for the appropriate grade level INSTEAD of the Grade Box. If your child is enrolled in Band/Choir/Orchestra you can also order the appropriate music box by grade level. Explore/PLTW boxes are also available at each grade level depending upon which elective your child signed up for. When in doubt… purchase ONLY the GRADE BOX
8th Grade Celebrations:
Friday, May 17th, 2024, the 8th-grade class will have the opportunity to celebrate one another at their 8th Grade End-of-Year Dance, which will be hosted at Wredling Middle School by our wonderful PTO. We look forward to celebrating the 8th Grade Class of 2024! The theme of this celebration is “Hooray for Hollywood” and will be from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. Students will enter through the main entrance, as we are providing a “Red Carpet” welcome! This is a fun event, but I want to remind parents that this is not prom. This is a middle school dance so I want to make sure that everyone has similar expectations. We don't need expensive suits or dresses, or nails or hair done. Nice clothes that you already have are just fine!
COST: $10 in advance or $15 at the door. Pay for the dance in PushCoin here. If you receive free meals or need some financial help, email Mrs. Johnson at lucy.johnson@d303.org. No student should miss this dance due to financial need.
Kids come dressed in all sorts of ways. The dance can be fancy or casual, but outfits should be school-appropriate.
Students absent on the day of the dance for any reason will NOT be eligible to attend.
Here is a copy of the permission slip. Students will also get a copy at school.
Thursday, May 30th (the last day of school) we will host two events for our 8th Graders
8th grade awards assembly at 9:15 AM in the Wredling Gym. Parents are welcome to attend, though this is a fairly short awards assembly. We do make sure that the parents of students receiving awards are notified that their child is receiving an award.
8th-grade lunch in the afternoon. We will have some games & activities available, some music playing along with time for students to sign yearbooks socialize.
Notes from the Health Office
Medication Pickup Reminder
It’s hard to believe we are coming to the end of the 2023-2024 school year. This is a reminder that you will need to come to school to pick up your child's medication by the last day of school which is Thursday, May 30th. The only medications that can be given to a student to transport home are those that are allowed to be self carried (Epi Pens, Pancreatic Enzymes, or inhalers). Medications that are not picked up at the end of the school day May 30th, will be disposed of according to the D303 policy. This policy also does not allow medication to remain in the health office over the summer for the next school year. Epi-pens and inhalers can be sent home with students. Antihistamines can not be sent home with your child. Medication must be picked up by a parent or adult designee with the parent’s permission.
Medication Pick up: Friday May 24th 9am-2pm
Tuesday May 28th 9am-2pm
Wednesday May 29th 9am-2pm
Thursday May 30th, By Appointment Only
*If these times do not work, please call our office 331-228-3704 to try to schedule a pick up time.
Looking ahead to the 2024-2025 school year, if your child requires medication or any action plans, your child will need new physician orders and action plans for the next school year. Forms can be found under Health Services on the D303 website or linked directly here:
Make your appointments today with the physician, as these appointments fill up quickly!
School Physicals for the 2024-2025 School Year
Students entering 6th and 9th grade must submit evidence of a State of Illinois Certificate of Child Health Examination form . 6th graders are required to have one dose of the Tdap vaccine and one dose of the meningococcal vaccine (MCV4) on or after their 11th birthday. Also, students entering the 6th and 9th grade must submit evidence of a dental examination completed within 18 months prior to May 15th of that school year.
If your student is entering an Illinois school for the first time, evidence of a physical examination and a complete record of immunizations must be submitted within 30 days of their first day of school.
The health office is closed during the summer months. We will return for limited hours beginning in early August. Please contact me if there are new medical concerns for your child or if your child will need a health plan at school. Our email is Wms-Nurses@d303.org. Our fax number is 331-228-3707. If this number does not work, fax your paperwork to the main office at 331-228-3701.
Have a fun, healthy, and safe summer!

MATILDA THE MUSICAL
Another great novel by the famous Roald Dahl, Matilda has inspired people all around the world – and now the story finally comes to the CTE/FVTC stage! Matilda is a brilliant girl who loves books and her teacher Ms. Honey – and she has astonishing telekinetic powers! Matilda’s home life is one of sadness and loneliness, but through her powers she begins to see what lies inside her is truly remarkable. Can she even lead the students to rise up against the tyrannical headmistress, Ms. Trunchbull? Can she outmaneuver her conniving parents? Matilda is truly a heroine for the ages, and her tale proves that wit, optimism, and a pinch of magic can truly save the day. Matilda the Musical has won 47 international awards, and we are thrilled to finally bring it to our community!
