Recently, your family received a message from Omaha Public Schools Chief Academic Officer Susan Christopherson. If you missed that email, we’ve posted it here.
.
Omaha Public Schools and McMillan Middle are always learning and growing, just like the students we serve. Through our Strategic Plan of Action, Omaha Public Schools invested in early literacy across elementary schools and expanded access to high-quality options in high school. Reflecting on a student’s middle school experience is our next step to improve.
We invite you to the McMillan Middle family engagement meeting, where we will discuss our school’s strengths, our vision for an ideal middle school student experience and how we can get there, together.
Our family engagement meeting will be:
Wednesday, April 19th, 2023
5:00 PM to 6:00 PM
McMillan Magnet Middle School Auditorium
Your input is an important part of the work to come. Thank you for your support.
McMillan STRIVE FOR 95 - NOW until April 15!
Attendance matters! Students who maintain the STRIVE FOR 95 goal are more likely to be on or above grade level academically, be socially and emotionally connected to the school and staff, and remain on track to high school graduation. Between now and April 15, McMillan is doing a STRIVE FOR 95 Attendance Challenge, with SWAG-BAGS and prizes handed out for improved attendance. See Mr. Chipps in the office for details!

8th Grade End of Year Bowling Trip!
McMillan is excited to bring back a tradition that has been absent since COVID; an 8th grade celebration on the last day of school, Friday, May 26th from 10:00 am to 1:30 pm. Students will be traveling to Maplewood Lanes by school bus during the school day with McMillan staff as chaperones.
Students will experience unlimited bowling, a pizza lunch, and fun to celebrate the end of their middle school experience. This will be free of charge to students. Students may bring money to purchase concessions while at Maplewood Lanes.
We are asking for family support as we look at students' academic and behavioral performance as a motivation toward success. The expectation of all 8th grade students wanting to attend is to have no Fs on their progress reports, checked on May 12th. Grades of an F and suspensions from school may impact a student’s ability to attend this fun day celebration.
Thank you for your support as we work to celebrate students, celebrate the middle school experience, and have an enjoyable event for them at Maplewood Lanes!
