Reminders from the Clinic
- Student Health History Form: if you haven't already done so, please update your child's health history by following this link: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1QwIJjONAIGTPyn1DWVQ8oyIpNiYkDim8.
- In addition, please look for a green (hard copy) form that will be sent home soon with your student. We request that you complete and returne the green form to school to aid us in caring for your child while at school. Thank you!
- Please continue to refer to the self-assessment page (found on our website) which provides guidelines to ensure that your student is healthy when coming to school.
- Although head lice are more common among younger children who engage in close interaction and play, please note that even teenagers are capable of sharing these pests. Please help your child regularly monitor their hair and scalp area, as well.
Athletics Updates
1. Please watch this video for important information about participation in athletics and school information for grades 5-8.
https://youtu.be/xY0Rb33pPIU
2. Fall Sports: Soccer, Cheerleading, Cross country, Football and Volleyball are off to a great start!
3. Joining Late: Some students have asked if they join fall sports late. Football (7th grade) and Cross Country are still accepting players. However, if a student joins late, they do have to wait 10 practices to play in a game. That is most of the remainder of the season.
4. Physical Appointments: Please make appointments for physicals for winter and spring sports NOW, and get the packet completed and turned in. If you played in a fall sport, you already have a Clearance Card and are ready to try out for winter and spring sports.
5. Winter Sports:
- Boys' basketball tryouts will be in early October.
- Girls' basketball tryouts will be in December.
- Wresting at GJH will begin in January.
- Boys' and Girls' Swimming starts in February and is open to 6th, 7th and 8th grade students.
- All of these require the physical paperwork and the other athletic packet forms!
6. Watch Parent Square for upcoming listening sessions. These will be opportunities for parents to give feedback about how we can continue to improve the GJH Athletics Programs.
Check out the GJH Athletics website at https://goshenathletics.com/junior-redhawk-athletics/ or contact Mr. Sheets or Mrs. Worthman for more information.

Vaping
According to the 2020 National Youth Tobacco Survey, more than 3.6 million teens had used e-cigarettes in the 30 days prior to the survey. Many teens and pre-teens underestimate or do not understand the dangers of using e-cigarettes, or vaping. Click on the link below to learn more about vaping, how to identify e-cigarettes (some of them look surprisingly unlike cigarettes), and how you can talk with your child about the dangers.
