Hello River Bend Families!
I want to start with a thank you to all of our families who were able to attend their child's conference. It is always a long week for our teachers and staff. Teachers put in a lot of time to prepare, make arrangements for their own families, and give up additional time at home. Along with safety, partnering with parents and guardians is such an important piece of student success. We appreciate everyone in our school community.
Our building's Climate Committee pulled off some fun with our first ever "Undercover Spirit Week." It was just for staff and our students caught on pretty quickly. We had lots of questions about why were wearing certain things or carrying particular items. It was fun!
We are wrapping up Benchmark Unit 4 on Perspectives in Literature. When we return from Thanksgiving Break we will jump into a nonfiction unit called Technology and Society. On December 2nd, we will launch with another dress up day where students and staff can wear something that represents a particular decade. Through their reading and writing, students will be learning how technology has changed over the years and innovation impacts our future. Anyone have an old rotary phone? A boom box? A walkman? There will also be an opportunity right before winter break for a vintage Show and Tell.
Lastly, this is just a friendly reminder about our car rider line procedures. We have to use a zipper method to transition from our two entrance lanes to one lane on the back lot. We have the single lane for drop off, but have a pretty efficient system to form two lanes at pick up to load twice the number of vehicles. Thank you!
Enjoy your Thanksgiving Break and know how grateful we are for our River Bend school community!
Each child as my own,
Jaime
