Container Gardens
Spring planting season is upon us. An enjoyable part of a garden is a container planting, they are fun and can add a ‘pop’ of color to your landscape. I always enjoy picking out flowers for my container gardens because they can be anything I want and I prefer to use annuals in my containers for long-lasting color through the season. Read More Here.

Pecans: A Fun Nut to Crack
Put a bowl of mixed nuts in front of me, and one of the first varieties that’ll go missing are, you
guessed it: the pecans.
I’ll eat all the pecans and almonds first, work my way through the other varieties, and leave the
peanuts for someone else. I like peanuts just fine, but they definitely wouldn’t be a finalist in my
mixed nut bracket, if that was a thing. Read More Here.

Wheat Management Field Day
Nebraska Extension in Gage, Jefferson, and Saline counties is hosting a wheat management field day at Wehling Family Farms on Thursday morning, June 8, 2023, near Diller. Nathan Mueller, local Water & Integrated Cropping Systems Extension Educator, stated “The field day provides an opportunity for farmers, agronomists, and others to learn from each other about locally relevant management for wheat in southeast Nebraska.” The field day is sponsored by Nebraska Extension and Wehling Family Farms and will begin at 9:00 am and run through 11:30 am. Driving Directions from Diller: Head south on Highway 103 for 4 miles from Diller. Go one mile south of Hwy 8 on 581st Avenue, then turn west on 704th Road, field site is about ¼ west from the intersection on the south side of the road.
