Beware of Phishing
Recently, there has been an increase in phishing schemes directed toward educational institutions. A few phishing scams have circulated in the last week targeting both staff and students.
Please Note: Your account may be locked/disabled temporarily for security reasons if you were targeted
Current Staff Phishing Scam
A phishing email is currently circulating targeting staff, asking them to participate in an email validation exercise. The scam instructs users to click on a link labeled "CLICK HERE" to validate their email. Please do not click on this link.
If you clicked on the link, please reset your password immediately using the PUSD Portal (portal.pusd.us) or contact the Help Desk at 626-396-3699 for more support.
Other Phishing Scams
Some phishing scams utilize Google Applications (Docs, Forms, Sheets, etc.) to obtain your login information. These scams are a type of business email compromise (BEC) attack that use legitimate Google sites to gain access to a user's mailbox. The scam typically begins with an email that looks like it's from a trusted source, such as a friend, colleague, or organization, and includes a link to a shared Google Doc or Form. However, clicking on the link redirects the user to a malicious website that looks like the Google sign-in page, where the scammer can collect personal information.
Please remember:
- District personnel will never ask for your account passwords and you should never share this information with anyone else.
- Always check the email address or phone number associated with the sender
- Mind any warnings coming from the mail system (flags, warning banners)
- When in doubt, check with the person who supposedly sent the email or text before you send personal information, money etc.
ITS Updates
Classroom Phones
Phones that have been mounted to the wall should not be removed. The moving of phones by non-ITS staff can cause serious issues during an emergency. If you have any questions regarding phones, please reach out to our Help Desk.
New Employee Devices
If you are a new employee and in need of a device, please submit a request at gopusd.com/newdevice. In order to receive a device, you must have an active PUSD email account and your position must be eligible for a device. If you have any questions, please contact the Help Desk at 626-396-3699.
Lenovo Thinkpad Collection
If you are a teacher who is still using a Lenovo ThinkPad in addition to your new PUSD laptop, we need your device. The Lenovo ThinkPads need to be refurbished to go to other staff members who do not have a device. If you have one of these devices, please turn it in (with the charger) to your site tech or a centralized location, such as your library or front office, for collection.
