Principal's Message:
April has arrived! There have been some exciting things happening at the school and as always, a great deal of people to thank.
I would like to thank our community members who have been amazing at coming into our school and sharing their knowledge! Stewart Bowen came in to help with our Junior High Construction option, we celebrated with a news release.
Jason Green has been coming on Wednesdays to share his skills with chess! It is incredible to see a large amount of interest from students:
Our annual teddy bear drive for the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Foundation happened in February and on March 5th we presented the bears to Butterfly the Clown. Butterfly will distribute the bears to children needing care at the hospital. We are very grateful to the community for continuing to support this drive:
On Pi Day, we had our Student Council help the community senior group make pies and distribute them to the whole school! Thank you to our senior group!
We also had an exciting donation from NuVista Energy, they donated $8 000 towards a new high jump mat! Here is the press release announcing that donation: NuVista Donation.
Thank you to Sabrina Schock for her donation of movie passes for our March colouring contest, we had a lot of wonderful submissions to choose from!
Students from across grades have been participating in STEAM activities, and we had a very successful Science Fair!
March was our month to visit Nitehawk and students learned a great deal about skiing skills and had a great time on the hill:
Right before the break, the grade 6-8 group went on a celebration trip. They were so amazing on the trip and had a wonderful time!
We also welcomed the Alberta Musical Theatre to our school for their production of Cinderella:

Hello Penson School,
Greetings Penson School
This month was very remarkable! We had an extremely busy month with the following planned occasions. Such as Gr. ⅞ Science fair, Gr. 4-8 Nitehawk ski trip, PI day, as well as our spring break that began after March 28 all the way till April 8th when we will come back!
Our very generous sponsors for our pancake breakfast this month were the Grovedale Community Club and Agriculture Society. We would also like to give a huge thank you to all the volunteers and generous supporters who have helped out with our pancake breakfast!
