Dear Hayshire Families,
This week, second and third grade had their first assembly! We shared some of our Hopes and Dreams for the new school year. During the first few weeks, teachers ask the children to name goals (hopes and dreams). This helps them get excited about learning and make a personal connection to what they will learn in school. At the assembly, we read Surfer Chick by Kristy Dempsey. This is the story of Chick, who wants to be as talented a surfer as her famous dad. At first, she encounters many setbacks, including a big wipe-out, but with perseverance, she learns to surf and even create some cool moves of her own. Next week, kindergarten and first grade will have their assembly.
In addition to our Hopes and Dreams, we reviewed our Hayshire School Rules.
- We listen to each other.
- We care about each other.
- We take care of our things.
- We do quality work.
- We are safe in our actions.
Back to School Night is scheduled for Thursday, September 5. Families will have an opportunity to meet their child's teacher and see the classroom. This year, as a district, we are shifting our format to a parent information evening. We are strongly requesting that children do not attend. Our teachers will present a slideshow and you will learn more about your child's classroom community and curriculum. We will open the doors at 6:30 pm sharp to ensure all faculty and staff are in place. Families will report directly to their child’s classroom at the beginning of each session. Please join us to celebrate a new school year and see your child’s home away from home!
To assist with limited parking, we are asking families to please consider the following schedule…
Session 1: Families with last name A-L
6:30-7:15
Session 2: Families with last name M-Z
7:15-8:00
Just a reminder, no school for all students and faculty on Monday, September 2. Happy Labor Day!
Have a great weekend!
