Our Week at Reutter School
Week of January 13, 2025
School Principal's Message
Dear Reutter School Families,
Happy New Year! January is shaping up to be an engaging and enriching month at Reutter School, filled with opportunities for our students to grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
Social Justice Presentation
Next week, we are honored to welcome Gloucester County Superior Court Judge William Ziegler to Reutter School. Judge Ziegler will present a special program on social justice, featuring a reading of “I Am Martin Luther King, Jr.” This inspiring story highlights the life of a young Martin Luther King, Jr. and his remarkable impact on the civil rights movement. Following the reading, students will watch a clip of Dr. King’s profound “I Have a Dream” speech. This presentation will provide students with an opportunity to reflect on the importance of equality, justice, and perseverance.
"No Name-Calling Week" – January 21-24
As part of our nationally recognized Character Development Program, we are excited to promote kindness and respect during "No Name-Calling Week." Throughout this week, our Counselor Helpers will lead activities designed to foster understanding and mutual respect among students. This initiative is an incredible way for our school community to create a more supportive and uplifting culture.
Cyberbullying and Internet Safety Presentation
During the final week of January, students will participate in an informative presentation by IROC2 (Internet Responsibility Organization). This annual event teaches students about the dangers and responsibilities associated with internet use while highlighting the benefits of technology when used wisely.
At Reutter School, we are committed to providing meaningful opportunities for our students to grow as individuals and global citizens. I encourage you to talk with your children about these events and how they can contribute to creating a more positive and respectful school environment.
Thank you for your ongoing support in making our school a place where kindness and learning thrive. As always, feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.
Warm regards,
Mr. Theodore Peters
Principal
REMINDER - School will be closed for students on January 17 and January 20.

Reutter School Celebrates Mrs. Heather Nelson's Participation in Dyslexia Panel Discussion at Rowan College of South Jersey
Reutter School is proud to announce that Mrs. Heather Nelson, our dedicated Reading Specialist and Special Education Teacher, recently participated in a pivotal panel discussion at Rowan College of South Jersey. The event illuminated the vital supports that schools are implementing for students with Dyslexia and was inspired by the documentary "Hopeville: How to Win the Reading Wars."
The documentary follows three elementary schools transitioning from balanced literacy instruction to evidence-based, structured literacy practices. It features powerful narratives from experts, educators, and parents advocating for a systematic approach to teaching reading to all students.
Mrs. Nelson utilized her extensive expertise in special education to deliver a compelling message about effective methods for assisting students with special needs in the intermediate school environment. Her insights on structured literacy were both inspiring and enlightening, highlighting the importance of tailored support for students navigating reading challenges.
“We are immensely proud of Mrs. Nelson’s accomplishments and her commitment to advocating for effective reading instruction,” said Mr. Ted Peters, Principal of Reutter School. “Her participation in this important discussion underscores her valuable contributions to our school community and our collective efforts to improve educational outcomes for all children.”
As Reutter School continues to enhance its support for students, we honor educators like Mrs. Nelson who are making a significant impact in the lives of children with dyslexia and other learning challenges.
