WEEKLY MESSAGE
Happy Friday, Arovista!
The California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) is HERE! Arovista will be CAASPP testing (grades 3-6) through May 17th. Here are some ways you can partner with your teacher in preparation for our testing window:
- make sure your Allstar(s) get plenty of rest during the week.
- plan doctor's or other appointments after school hours when possible.
- know a little about the CAASPP so you can help support your Allstar(s) at home when possible
May is Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month where we celebrate the contributions of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in our history. Join is in the main quad on Friday mornings this month for performances to celebrate AAPI Month!
Also, next week is Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week! We are fortunate to have each of them here supporting every Allstar, every day! Thank you to all of our teachers and staff for all of your hard work and dedication to our Allstars and our Arovista Community!
The end of the school year is quickly approaching! Please take a look at our "Important Upcoming Dates" section to see what is happening on our campus in May.
In Partnership,
Mr. Barrientos

AROVISTA INFO
HAVE YOU RECIEVED AN ATTENDANCE LETTER LATELY?
We are writing to inform you about the recent attendance letters that have been sent home. These letters are part of our commitment to maintaining open communication with you, our Arovista school community.
If you have received an attendance letter for excused absences, please be aware that this may be due to documentation or clarification needed for the reasons behind your child's absence. It is a standard procedure to ensure accurate records and provide a complete picture of your child's school attendance.
On the other hand, if you received an attendance letter for unexcused absences, we want to emphasize the importance of regular school attendance for the academic success and overall well-being of your child. Unexcused absences refer to instances where we may not have received sufficient information regarding the reasons for your child's non-attendance.
We understand that there may be circumstances beyond your control, and we are here to support you. If you believe there has been an error or if you need assistance in providing additional information, please don't hesitate to reach out to the school office.
Our goal is to work together with you to ensure that your child has every opportunity to thrive academically and socially. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
CHARACTER COUNTS MONDAYS!

We want to emphasize this pillar of character by teaching our Allstars to: Do their share to help their families and communities to be better • To be good neighbors • Protect the environment • Respect parents, teachers, and others in authority • Be responsible for themselves. Demonstrate good sportsmanship and have a positive attitude! Be the Allstars you are, so Let's go, Allstars!

COVID-19 UPDATE (1/16/2024)
Brea Olinda Unified School District continues to track the latest COVID-19 guidelines and recommendations from the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) and Orange County Health Care Agency.
On Jan. 9, state health officials issued an update to the COVID-19 Isolation and Testing Guidance that advises individuals who are COVID-19 positive to follow a more symptom-based approach, similar to other illnesses, rather than strictly isolating for five days. State officials have determined that we are now at a different point in time with reduced impacts from COVID-19 compared to previous years due to broad immunity from vaccination and/or natural infection. This has led to new isolation guidelines from CDPH that reflect a symptom-based approach similar to all other respiratory viruses.
What this means is that anyone who tests positive for COVID-19 and is experiencing symptoms should closely monitor their symptoms and may return to school and/or work when symptoms are improving, and mild, and the person has not had a fever for 24 hours. Additionally, anyone who tests positive but has no symptoms does not need to isolate and may continue working and going to school.
Although this change substantially decreases the amount of time an individual should stay home after a positive COVID-19 test result, I want to encourage everyone to remain vigilant and take proper care of their health to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 and other illnesses.
BOUSD will continue to require COVID-19 reporting.

Students should continue to use the Online COVID-19 Student Reporting Form
