End of Year Coming Fast!
Fourth Quarter Begins

Forecasting For Next Year Taking Place Soon
Harrison Park Academic Programming Information
For the 2024-2025 school year classes will be approximately 45-50 minutes in length and we will run on a seven period schedule. School will begin at 9:15 and end at 4:00. Once a month there will be a two hour early release for staff professional development. Students will be released at 2:00 (9/25, 10/23, 11/20, 12/18, 2/26, 3/19, 4/23, 5/21).
Advisory
Attached to a student’s first period class, Advisory will take place at the end of the period. Students will not leave their class, but will remain with their first period teacher for Advisory content. Advisory will cover all school announcements, Social Emotional lessons, study skills, goal setting, etc.
Interventions/Support Classes
Students who are English Language Learners will potentially be placed in a period of English Language Support. This is dependent on individual language needs. Special Education students may also receive a period of support depending on their specific Individual Education Plan.
At Harrison Park we will also offer reading and math intervention classes for students who are at least a year behind in math or reading. We use MAP and OSAS assessments to help with placement along with individual assessments, teacher recommendations and parental input. Intervention classes are designed to be flexible and provide students with an opportunity to fill learning gaps. Once students have shown proficiency they may be exited from intervention classes, or moved to another class that provides additional support if needed. Moves can be made at any time throughout the year. Intervention courses for next year will be Math and Reading. Depending on staffing we may offer Mandarin and Study Skills.

Teacher Appreciation Week is May 5th-11th. Our hope is to stock our teacher's lounge with snacks and goodies to get them through the end of the year. If your family is able you can send non perishable treats (granola bars, chips, seltzers, sodas, nuts) to the school. We will ensure they are placed in our teacher's hands. Have ideas or questions? Contact Shannon in the main office, sbuffington@pps.net or 503.916.5700.
