Class of 2025 - Cap & Gown
Thank you for your attentiveness during yesterday's Cap & Gown presentation from Josten's! I wanted to get out some information to all of you as reminders.
Every graduating senior who plans to walk at graduation has to order the minimum of a cap, gown, and tassel. If all you want to purchase is the required products, this comes as a package for $48. Here's a direct link: https://www.jostens.com/apps/store/productDetail/1064455/FENTON-HIGH-SCHOOL/Cap-and-Gown/2483118336/CATALOG_REPOSITORY/Cap-Gown-Tassel-Unit/2483118396
Remember, our gowns are custom and will look different than what you see online.
If you had a sibling who graduated in 2022 or 2023, they had the same gown, BUT from a different company and the materials used are noticeably different, so you need to order the entire package above or in the package options below.
Josten's offers A LOT of different packages, swag, announcements, etc...all of this is OPTIONAL.
Many of these optional packages include the cap and gown. So, if you want some of these items, use this link: https://www.jostens.com/apps/store/packageBrowse/1064455/FENTON-HIGH-SCHOOL/Graduation/2483118336/CATALOG_REPOSITORY/PACKAGES
If you have trouble with the links above, go to Jostens.com and then put in our school.
Parents and/or Students, don't hesitate to reach out if you have questions.
Remember that if you're ordering swag, order before October 17 to have orders delivered on Nov 7. ALL Cap & Gown pieces will be delivered to FHS and handed out at Senior Breakfast on May 20, 2025.
Indigenous People's Day - October 14th
Indigenous Peoples' Day is a holiday in the United States that celebrates and honors Indigenous American peoples and commemorates their histories and cultures. It is celebrated across the United States on the second Monday in October, and is an official city and state holiday in various localities. It began as a counter-celebration held on the same day as the U.S. federal holiday of Columbus Day, which honors Italian explorer Christopher Columbus. Some people do not observe Columbus Day at all, citing the lasting harm Indigenous tribes suffered because of Columbus's contributions to the European colonization of the Americas.

Reminder to Parents: Call by Noon the Next Day for Absences
Parents:
We know you get busy, but at the high school level, students who accumulate over 10 days of absences during a semester, especially when those absences are unexcused, have to appeal for their credit at the end of the semester.
Please don't put yourself and your child in that situation. Be sure to call when they are out absent or by noon the next day (after you receive the robocall to remind you).
Thanks.

FHS Football After Linden/Fenton Game
Photo by Linden Photographer - Brandon Love
Fenton is currently UNDEFEATED!!!
October 18th or 19th Crossover Game - Will It Be Friday or Saturday? (see below)
If Fenton wins at Flushing on Friday (10/11/24), the team will be the Stripes Division champion and will play in the title game. If Fenton loses, and Linden wins its game against Kearsley (10/11), the Eagles, Fenton, and Flushing would be in a three-way tie for first place, and tiebreakers will dictate the champion. The same would be true if just Fenton and Flushing end up in a tie atop the Stripes standings.
NOTE: Depending on the outcomes on Friday, October 11th, the Crossover Game could be played on Saturday instead of Friday because the top two winners of the Stars & Stripes division play on Saturday. The games this Friday (10/11/24) for Fenton, Linden, & Flushing will determine the winner of the Stripes Division.
Stay tuned and check out Friday Night Lights Football scores on the local news channels if you cannot be at the game.
Teaching & Learning
National Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept 15 - Oct 15th)
Hispanic Heritage Month is a month-long celebration of Hispanic and Latino history and culture. While we celebrate Hispanic and Latino communites beyond this month, from September 15 to October 15 we give extra recognition to the many contributions made to the history and culture of the United States, including important advocacy work, vibrant art, popular and traditional foods, and much more.
Students in FHS Spanish classes decorated the halls with "papel picado" (tissue paper decorations) and researched several Hispanic celebrities (see photos below).
Voting Information
In 2023, Governor Whitmer signed House Bill 4569 into law, which allows future Michigan voters to pre-register to vote when they turn 16 years old. This pre-registration enables eligible voters to vote as soon as they turn 18. To use this pre-registration process, a person must be at least 16 years old but not older than 17 and-a-half years old. If you pre-register, you can participate in early in-person or absentee voting for an election as long as you will be 18 on or before the date of the election. Those eligible to vote who are already older than 17.5 years old, were previously allowed to register under MI law.

Thank You Mueller's Orchard in Linden, MI
Mueller's Orchard located at 6036 Lobdell Road in Linden, MI donated some of their mouth-watering apple cinnamon with sugar donuts and fresh pressed cider to Fenton High School as a snack during Parent/Teacher Conferences on Wednesday, October 9th.
Mueller's Orchard and Cider Mill is one of the oldest orchards in the area. Records indicate it has been continuously an orchard since the late 1880's. Come check out their NEWLY REMODELED orchard barn., corn maze, while sampling donuts, cider, ice Cream, hotdogs and so much more!
William and Marie Mueller took ownership in May 1941. Since that time the orchard has been operated by the Mueller family. There are now three generations of Muellers at the orchard, Charles and Wendy, Michael and Angi, and their children RJ, Cole, Owen, and Olivia. So it appears there will be a Mueller around to operate the orchard for many more years to come.
