Letter from Mrs. Anderson
Hello Bobcat Families!
Congratulations! Eden Park Elementary was awarded the prestigious recognition of Lighthouse Leader in Me School. Our entire school community celebrated this event on May 3rd. We are very proud of our entire school community for earning Lighthouse status.
The end of this school year continues to be busy, right up until the end of May. We will be completing state standardized testing on May 21st and look forward to our Annual Field Day on May 24th. Most importantly, I can’t wait to celebrate our 5th grade students at our Moving Up Ceremony on May 29th.
In addition to this, we are looking forward to welcoming Laurel Oak Elementary students on our campus, May 23rd. Laurel Oak student ambassadors have been working hard to help promote their “Cereal For Summer” campaign with their school community. We graciously accepted this invitation to witness “kids helping kids” as two communities come together to show kindness to one another. Be on the look-out for boxes of cereal coming home with your child.
Finally, it is with a deep sense of gratitude that I say “good-bye” as I embark on a new opportunity as Principal of Laurel Oak Elementary. The work that our teachers, families, and support staff implemented over the past four years has been tremendously important to me. There is no question in my mind that the culture of our school is deeply ingrained in our collective teamwork and collaboration. I am confident that Eden Park will continue to grow and evolve with the continued support of our EPE community.
I have been blessed, beyond measure, to have had the opportunity to work with all of you and your children. Thank you for your unwavering support of our learning community. I am and will always be forever grateful for the experience EPE offered me in my professional career.
Mrs. Anderson, Principal

Counselor Corner
Hello Bobcat Families,
We are in our final month of the school year! May is all about conscience and integrity. Telling the truth is something we want all children to master. It can be one of the hardest things to teach, as the goal for most young people is staying out of trouble. However, the earlier you help students learn to tell the truth, the more they will be able to be trusted.
Here are some activities to practice telling the truth at home:
· Video: Watch this video to learn about integrity:
· Model: Practice integrity in front of your children. Your example one of the best ways to show them how to use this character trait!
· Sign Language: Watch this video to learn how to say, “integrity,” in another language!

· Books: Here are some books you can read with your children to teach this character trait:
o Ruthie and the (Not So) Teeny Tiny Lie by Laura Rankin
o The “I” in Integrity by Julia Cook
o A Little Spot of Honesty by Diane Alber
At the heart of conscience and integrity is honesty. Our goal is to teach children to tell the truth—even when no one is watching (by C. S. Lewis). It is not about avoiding trouble. It is about having pride in yourselves. Honesty goes far beyond elementary school. By being trustworthy, they will go farther in their careers and own families. Thank you for helping our students learn the importance of being honest!
It has been my sincere pleasure working with EPE students all year. I will miss our kiddos during the summer, and I will be excited to see them in the new year!
Sincerely,
Kimberly Combes
