NAS alum, Cen Liu, selected as a Presidential Innovation Fellow
The U.S. General Services Administration announced the Presidential Innovation Fellows (PIF) cohort of 2022, and one of Loyola alum is among this year's cohort. Cen Liu, who has received three undergraduate degrees from Loyola in Engineering, Mathematics, and Computer Science is one of the newest Presidential Innovation Fellows. GSA's announcement of PIF states that "GSA is embedding 25 corporate and technology leaders in 14 agencies for a one-year civic service fellowship. Housed within GSA’s Technology Transformation Services (TTS), this year’s class directly supports the Biden-Harris Administration’s focus on empowering the federal workforce and delivering an effective and efficient government. The PIF program’s cohort-driven model offers unique opportunities for the PIFs to work together and make progress across disciplines and agencies. The PIF program ensures a strong community across the government that focuses on innovative sustainable modernization." Moreover, alongside their agency partners, the PIFs will work to improve the way government delivers services for the public. They will help to modernize the government’s technology capabilities by championing and guiding visionary projects as strategic advisors.
We are delighted to celebrate the success of one of our own graduates who has received national recognition based on his science and engineering expertise and the impact of his work.

Please join me to thank Jennifer Sullivan for her outstanding service as program coordinator for the Natural and Applied Sciences (NAS), during the time she worked with NAS programs that is between November 2016 and March 2022. Starting Monday, March 14, 2022, Jennifer Sullivan has joined the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CI&E). NAS programs have benefited tremendously from the outstanding work of Jennifer Sullivan, and what she has helped to establish will continue impacting NAS even after transition to her new role. For example, she has been an integral part of the effort leading to the launch of the NAS monthly newsletter (Synapse), NAS website, NAS annual reports, and NAS social media. Moreover, she has provided outstanding support for various NAS programs including Hauber Summer Research, Grand Seminar, Haig Scholars, Choudhury Sarkar-Dey NAS Division Medal, Cosmos and Creation, NAS student clubs and activities, pop-up classes, Celebration of Science Week activities and events, University Innovation Fellows (UIFs) program, in addition to coordinating NAS chairs meetings, Natural and Applied Sciences Steering Board (NASSB) meetings, collaborations with various units in the university, and all other NAS related operation and activities. Moreover, she has provided high-quality support for the thriving Health Outreach Baltimore and other Pre-health programs. In every program that she has been involved in, she has shown creativity and proactively she has contributed to enhancing and improving the program. We will miss having Jen as part of the NAS programs. However, she will continue supporting Loyola University students and programs as part of the CI&E. We wish her the best of success in her new capacity.
