- November 25th - 29th :THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY ( NO SCHOOL)
- December 3rd: RCFE Character Trait: Creativity (wear blue)
Arrival & Dismissal
Morning Arrival
- Please do not park in parking lots unless you are coming inside the building for school business. FOR THE SAFETY OF THE CHILDREN, ALL CAR RIDERS, INCLUDING LATE ARRIVALS ARE REQUIRED TO GO THROUGH THE CAR RIDER LINE.
- Make sure students are ready to get out of the car. We will be able to help more families/cars if students are ready to go when we open the car doors.
- Please do not change lanes. If you need to be in a specific lane to exit, please start in that lane.
- Since learning begins at 7:50, staff will stop unloading cars and go inside at 7:50 to begin instruction. Please plan accordingly so we can assist with unloading your child.
Afternoon Dismissal
- All cars should proceed to the car rider line when arriving to campus.
- We have staff collecting car rider numbers starting at 2:50. Only physical car tag numbers will be accepted. We will not accept a picture of a tag.
- Please do not change lanes. Your position in line indicates to staff where your child will stand for loading.
- We will stop collecting numbers at 3:20. We will put a tag on the last car we record. Staff who load cars will go inside after loading cars whose number was recorded.
- Cars with a tag whose number was not recorded, will continue through the car rider line and pull forward, get out of their car and show their tag to a staff member at the front bench. All staff members will go inside when cars are cleared from the car rider lines.
- Cars without a tag will need to park in the visitor lot. After we have loaded all cars in the car rider line, those parents will need to show their ID inside the front office.
Monthly Attendance Summary
Attendance is extremely important for student success. For the month of October, our school attendance rate was 95.5%, which is slightly down from August. This also equates to 137,635 minutes of lost instruction and $106,088 of lost funding.
When your student is not sick, please send them to school. We love to see our little foxes!
Students with good attendance will also earn a treat from the Jolly Cart at the end of the 2nd 9 weeks.
3rd-5th Grade STAAR Testing Dates
We wanted to share our STAAR testing dates for the spring semester. We will send additional details closer to the testing dates.
Student IDs
Per Katy ISD, all students need to wear their school ID on campus. If your student has lost his or her ID and/or needs an ID sleeve or lanyard, please complete the form below. All costs and directions on how to pay are included. In addition, outstanding ID fee emails are sent every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Weatherford, our librarian. We greatly appreciate your support with helping to ensure students have IDs.

Purposeful People
This month we kick off our character trait of GRATITUDE. One way to think about Gratitude is "choosing to appreciate the people and things in our lives." Practicing Gratitude can increase our well-being and even our happiness!
Lost and Found
Lunch & Snacks
- Lunch Drop Off - If you would like to drop off lunch for your student, please do so before 9:30am. Items dropped off by this time will be taken to the cafeteria before lunches begin and students can pick up their lunch when entering the cafeteria. Items dropped off after 9:30am may not be delivered to the cafeteria.
- Snacks - Every classroom has a time where students can enjoy a healthy snack during class. Please remember to send snacks that can be eaten while continuing to work.
Class/birthday Treats & Invitations from Home
Per the student handbook: “To avoid interruption of classes, messages will be delivered to students only in extreme emergencies. Delivery to students of flowers, balloons, food (including birthday treats), and other such items are prohibited at school.”
Telecommunications Device Rules and Procedures
Not only are there many reasons you should join PTA as a parent but look at the opportunities for your children! Help us get as many people as we can signed up! This can be relatives out of town or a friend down the street! Send out to all you know! Thank you for all of your help!
Think Ahead Thursday ...
Every Thursday we invite students to wear a shirt showcasing your favorite college, university, military branch, vocational school, or even our Katy ISD junior high and high schools. It is never too early to begin thinking about the future!
Important video about morning car riders. Our top priority is to keep our foxes safe.
Other Beginning of Year Reminders
ID Badges: All students must wear their Katy ISD ID at all times. All students will be issued two ID badges at the beginning of the school year. One will be worn on a lanyard during the school day and the other will be attached to student backpacks. Students who lose an ID will have to pay for a replacement. These fees will be automatically charged to students and parents will receive an email to pay these fees via Pay N Go. Please encourage your student to take care of their ID so we don't have to replace them. A full replacement set, including ID, sleeve, and either lanyard or backpack attachment will cost $3.
Bus Transportation: All students in Kindergarten-5th Grade at Faldyn Elementary are eligible for bus transportation. We highly encourage students to ride the bus as it reduces the traffic on Clay Road each morning and afternoon. Parents can also track their student on the bus using the SmartTag Parent App. For more information about SmartTag, click here.
Arrival and Dismissal: We will begin letting students in the building at 7:30 each morning. Students arriving between 7:30-7:48am will get breakfast and report to their classroom for morning activities. All students are expected to be in class and ready for new learning by 7:50am. All students arriving by car should be dropped off through the car rider line that wraps around the building. There is no student drop-off through the visitor or staff parking lot. At the end of the day, students will be dismissed starting at 3pm.
- We have two lines moving through the drop-off and pick-up area. Pull into the shortest line when you arrive and stay there. Do not switch lines. Switching lines causes safety concerns and will delay the line at dismissal because students are brought out to a specific pickup point based on your place in line. Have your car tag clearly visible for our staff to record your number.
- Wait for traffic in front of you to move. Do not pull around cars unless directed to do so by a staff member.
- If you need to pick up a student early for a medical or dental appointment, please pick up students no later than 2:30pm. Early pick ups count as a partial day absence and will negatively impact your student's learning.
- Parents will designate their child's primary dismissal method at the beginning of the year - bus, car rider, daycare, or YMCA. If either a temporary or permanent transportation change is necessary, parents should email RCFETransportation@katyisd.org along with a copy of your photo ID by 2:00pm to allow time for processing.
Free Breakfast and Lunch for All Students at Faldyn
Faldyn Elementary has been approved by the Texas Department of Agriculture to be a CEP (Community Eligibility Provision) school beginning in school year 2024-2025. This means all students can receive a free breakfast and lunch without submitting household meal applications. See the attachement below for more information.
Katy ISD - Dress For Success
Please review the graphic below with your student and ensure all shaded areas are covered. Clothing should not have any wording or graphics that include inappropriate language, weapons, or logos for products that are not appropriate for elementary-aged students. Students who are not in dress code will not be allowed to stay in class and parents will be contacted to bring a change of clothes. If parents are unable to bring a change of clothes, students will complete their work in the office that day. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
Government-Issued Identification Requirements
As Katy ISD continues its review of safety practices and protocols, it's essential to stress the significance of physical/hard copy government-issued identifications for accessing campuses/facilities, student registration, and student pickup. The district is strictly enforcing this requirement and will no longer accept paper or digital copies of driver's licenses, visas, and passports at any of its campuses or facilities, for these purposes. Katy ISD greatly appreciates the community's cooperation with these safety procedures and the ongoing partnership to maintain safe and secure environments across campuses.
*For our community’s reference, below are examples of acceptable government-issued identifications.

Once registered and approved, individual volunteers can:
- Sign up as a campus volunteer by completing the volunteer recruitment form provided by your campus organization(s) or contact your campus volunteer coordinator.
- Submit and track hours via their volunteer profile for every Katy ISD campus at which they volunteer
- The system also provides quick and easy submission of individual off-campus volunteer hours
