Readathon Update
Coosa Families,
We are incredibly grateful for your unwavering support of our annual Read-a-thon! Your dedication to our students' passion for reading is the heartbeat of this event, and we couldn't achieve such success without you! You are truly appreciated!
We are thrilled to share that our school has raised an amazing $14,673.00 toward our $15,000.00 goal! We are so close! Any additional support you can provide would be immensely appreciated as we extend our initiative into the weekend. If you need your unique class code, please feel free to email Mrs. Bryant at april.bryant@beaufort.k12.sc.us.
Thank you once again for being incredible and for your continued support of our Coosa community! You are simply the best!
Build-A-Fossil
This week our 3rd grade students got hands-on with paleontology as they created fossil molds and casts in an engaging STEM activity led by the South Carolina Governor's School for Science & Mathematics.
2025 School Climate Survey
During the past two weeks, many of you completed our annual School Improvement Council survey. We have extended that deadline until Monday, March 10. We appreciate all of the feedback that is provided.
Now is your opportunity to take the Parent Climate survey given by the South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE). Students in grades 3-5 will complete a similar survey to gather their thoughts and opinions about school. We sincerely appreciate you taking the time to complete this short survey as these results will be reflected on our SC School Report Card and will be used to inform decision-making on the school, district, and state levels.
Parents can take the survey up until April 11th in the PowerSchool Parent Portal. Parents who HAVE already accessed their child’s PowerSchool account can log in and take the survey – the directions are below. If you have logged in previously but have forgotten your password, choose the forgot password option to reset.
For those parents who HAVE NOT created a PowerSchool Parent Portal account, the access instructions specific to your student were sent home today.
Each survey will take about 5-10 minutes to complete. Please read each statement and choose the best response from the choices given. As you read each statement, please consider the entire year rather than isolated events.
Directions to access the 2025 South Carolina Climate Survey are HERE.
Habits for a Happy Home
Week 11: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood - Empathy
This week’s focus is Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood by practicing empathy. Encourage your child to think about how others might feel in different situations. For example, if a friend is upset, help your child understand the importance of listening to their feelings without interrupting. You can model empathy by showing kindness and understanding in your own interactions. This helps your child recognize the importance of emotional connections in relationships.
Messaging - Contact Information
Please ensure your family’s contact information is up to date. If you have moved, have a new phone number, or need to update a student’s emergency contact(s), please contact Mrs. Tyson at 843-322-6100 or nichelle.mcewen-tyson@beaufort.k12.sc.us.
