Greene 101: Preparing for a Great Start at E.H. Greene
Greene 101 is a unique and exciting opportunity designed to help incoming 5th-grade students build the foundational skills they need to thrive at E.H. Greene Intermediate School. Led by a team of dedicated teachers, this one-day program focuses on developing essential skills such as organization, study habits, collaboration, problem-solving, technology use, and critical thinking.
Through a variety of engaging, hands-on activities, students will strengthen their independence, responsibility, and confidence as learners. They’ll also have the chance to connect with peers, get to know Greene’s school culture, and begin building a sense of community—before the first day of school.
With students coming together from four different elementary schools, Greene 101 is designed to ease the transition and help reduce the natural anxiety that can come with starting at a new school. Our goal is to ensure every student feels connected, confident, and excited to begin their journey at Greene.
Session Information:
- Students can attend one session on either Thursday, August 7 or Friday, August 8.
- Each session runs from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
- Students should bring a packed lunch.
How to Register:
Visit the Sycamore Schools website, click on "Academics" at the top of the homepage, then select "Summer School." The registration link for Greene 101 can be found in the catalog links.

From 6:30 pm - 6:55 pm, our student leadership group (Flight Crew) will conduct tours of our building. This will give you a chance to receive an in-depth look at our new facility.
Finally, from 7:00 pm -7:30 pm, we will have a question/answer session and answer common questions you may have.
This program is designed for adults only as your students will have a number of other opportunities to visit and become familiar and comfortable in their new home. We hope to see you there!

Dear Families,
This week, we will combine weeks 2 and 3 of our Insects theme. Children will learn about insects that hop or jump, including grasshoppers, crickets, fleas, katydids, springtails, leafhoppers, froghoppers and some beetles. We will also explore insects that fly, including bees, mosquitoes, flies, butterflies, ladybugs, and dragonflies. They will learn how these critters fly, which ones are pests, and which one creates a sweet treat. Children will also learn about the metamorphosis of the butterfly. 🦋
