Message from Mrs. Puetz and Mrs. Brown
Dear Henking families,
Happy New Year, and welcome back! We hope you and your family had a restful and joyful winter break. As we kick off 2025, I’m excited to share that we've already had a wonderful start to the new year here at school. Our students have returned eager to learn, and the energy in the halls is contagious!
As we move forward, we remain committed to providing a supportive, engaging, and inspiring learning environment for every child. We’re looking forward to all that this year will bring and the continued partnership we share with you as we work together to ensure the success and well-being of our students.
Thank you for your ongoing support, and here’s to a fantastic 2025!
Traffic Reminders - Arrival and Dismissal
Please take note of the items that have been highlighted in our
Arrival and Dismissal Procedures found here.
As a reminder, PLEASE do not attempt to enter the Linneman line at the four-way stop (Huber/Crowley) and instead proceed to the back of the line.
We’ve recently received concerns from our community regarding speeding on Huber Lane, Wedel, and Prairie Lawn. This creates an unsafe environment, particularly for students who walk to school. Please help us maintain safety by adhering to the posted 20 mph speed limits in these areas.
Additionally, we ask that you have your child ready to exit the car promptly in the morning to help keep the car line moving smoothly. If assistance is needed, our supervisors are available to help by opening the door. Please remain in your vehicle to ensure the process runs efficiently and safely.
A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated supervisors who work hard each day to ensure that all students enter the building quickly and safely!
We appreciate your cooperation in keeping everyone safe.
Welcome Back Assembly
Schoolwide Celebration
At our recent school assembly, the Henking Hawk announced that we had once again filled the Hawk house and earned an all school celebration on Monday, January 13. The students are excited to read to a stuffy! Please see the graphic below for more information. We are so proud of our Hawks for continuously showing safe, kind and responsible behavior!
Dental Exams Right at School for Your Child
Dental health is an important part of a child’s overall health – we love to see our students’ healthy smiles!
This spring, District 34 is bringing Orland Park Dental Services (OPDS) to our schools to provide dental exams to any of our students who need them. As a reminder, the State of Illinois requires students in grades K, 2, and 6 to submit proof of a dental exam – but these in-school appointments with OPDS are open to any and all students! They provide dental services to children on public aid as well as those with private dental insurance.
The exams are provided by caring, licensed dentists, hygienists, and dental assistants with state-of-the-art portable dental equipment. OPDS has been providing in-school dental services since 1999 and their healthcare professionals ensure a clean, safe, and comfortable environment within the schools.
Parents and guardians who complete the consent form do not have to join their child at the appointment (but you are welcome to come in). If you have questions or need assistance, contact District Nurse Shari Stadler.
