The KES Press - November 1, 2024
Respectful. Responsible. Safe.
Principal's Message
Dear KES Families,
I hope you are well today! I can't believe how the beautifully warm fall weather has continued into November this year. I remember years, as I'm sure many of you do as well, where children needed to wear winter coats over their Halloween costumes! Not this year though. I have to look at the calendar rather than out the window to get a sense of what season it is.
To that end, I want to say just a few words about a wonderful nonprofit organization known as Operation Gratitude. Over the years KES has sponsored Honor Flight Veterans, made wreaths for Wreaths Across America, and had toy drives for military families in our community, and supported Pets for Vets. But our longest running patriotic initiative (14 years) is Operation Gratitude. Each December for the last 14 years, KES has made a donation to Operation Gratitude of hand-knitted scarves and hats, made by KES parents, grandparents and relatives of every kind. Operation Gratitude then takes those wonderful hand knitted items and uses them to top off generous Care Packages that are sent to first responders and active duty US military personnel serving away from home during the holidays. These thoughtful gifts are deeply appreciated by military men and women all over the world who cannot be with their loved ones for the holidays. Over the years KES has sent more than 727 home-made scarves and hats, so if you crochet or knit or if you know someone who does, please help us keep this wonderful philanthropy going. We will put a box in the vestibule at KES and both hats and scarves can be dropped off any time between November 14th and December 15th. Thank you in advance for knitting on our behalf! For more information on Operation Gratitude access this link: Operation Gratitude: Homepage. Have a wonderful weekend!
Yours in education,
Dr. Quinn
