BMHS Parent/Family Update
July 24th, 2024
August 14, 2024 - Welcome to the 2024-2025 School Year!
The First Day of School is Thursday, August 15th!
The first day of school is Thursday, August 15th. The doors open for all students at 7:30am. Students are counted as tardy at 8:01am. All Gateway students should arrive at 8:50am. The bus for Gateway leaves campus at 9:00am. Dismissal for all students is 3:00pm
Traffic Pattern Around the School
Please see the image below for how traffic will flow around the building. Safety of our students and staff is our top priority. Please make sure you are familiar with how traffic will flow and be mindful of students crossing the street in front of you.
1st Block is the First Class of the Day!
We have made a minor adjustment to our master schedule for the 2024-2025 school year. The instructional day will begin for all students at 8:00am with their 1st block classes. We made this move to place an emphasis on attendance, and our instructional time. All students are considered tardy at 8:01am with the exception of our students that attend Gateway for dual enrollment courses. Students who attend Gateway should arrive to school by 8:50am. They will make their selections for their flex block classes each day and then be ready to depart BMHS for Gateway at 9:00am. We will still operate on our early release day schedule every Wednesday. Students will be dismissed at 2:00pm on early release days. Please click on the link below for a full copy of our new master schedule.
School Supplies and Student School Devices
Bellevue Middle School/High School students do not need to worry about bringing school supplies for the first day of school. In an effort to reduce the financial burden on families during the back to school season, the school provides all school supplies for all students in grades 6-12. On the first day of school, students WILL NEED to bring their school owned device (fully charged), and charging cable with them.
Review the 2024-2025 Student Handbook and District Code of Conduct
Please make sure you and your student reviews the Bellevue Middle School/High School Student Handbook and District Code of Conduct for the upcoming school year. Pay close attention to the dress code. IT WILL BE ENFORCED. You can click on the links below to review both documents. Students and parents are required to sign the acknowledgment form and the District Technology Acceptable Use form. All forms can be turned in when you pick up your device on one of our device deployment nights. Contact Mr. Spicher at scott.spicher@bellevue.kyschools.us with any questions.
Student Schedules
If your student did not pick up their schedule at the Back to School Bash or during the device deployment nights, they can get their schedule first thing in the morning when they walk in on Thursday. Ms. King, and Mrs. Carr will be inside the main entrance doors ready to hand out schedules to those that need them.
New School Cell Phone/Device Policy
As noted in our student handbook, Bellevue Middle School/High School will be following a new cell phone/device policy in order to protect the instructional time of the day. Students are not permitted to have cell phones or ear buds in class during the instructional time. When students enter the classroom, they will put their devices into a clear pocket that is hanging on the classroom door. They will be able to take their cell phone and ear buds with them when they leave the classroom. The policy will be for all classes in grades 6-12.
Students are permitted to have their phones and ear buds on them during arrival, transitions in between classes, lunch, and dismissal. In the event of an emergency, students will need the permission of building administration to use their cell phone during instructional time. We will send you and your student a full copy of our student handbook as we get closer to the school year starting.
Outside Food and Drinks
Due to federal breakfast/lunch guidelines, students are not permitted to bring outside food an drinks into the building. This includes large caffeinated drinks from places like Dunkin Donuts and Starbucks. This also applies to our students who are taking classes at Gateway or NKU. Students are permitted to carry water bottles with them during the day. They are also welcome to still pack a lunch and bring it to school.
Kentucky Safe Schools Tip Line
In order to promote a safe and health school environment, we encourage all of our students to report suspicious activity, safety concerns, or mental health concerns to a trusted adult. If they do not feel comfortable talking to an adult in the building, they can always report concerns to the Kentucky Safe Schools Tip Line at 1-866-393-6659. All reports to the Kentucky Safe Schools Tip Line are completely anonymous.
