What is a Rollover?

Rollover is when DBQ Online archives student and teacher classes and assignments. This happens on July 1 unless your District has requested otherwise.

What is saved after the Rollover?

ONLY TEMPLATES will be saved from year to year!


When you save an assignment as a template, the following customizations will be saved:


  1. The pages of the unit you've selected
  2. All scaffolds (guided essay, audio tool, etc)
  3. All annotations made in Teacher Markup Mode


Note: Only Annotations created in Teacher Markup Mode will save from year to year.

How to add and edit Teacher Markups to a unit

From the Gear icon, click Edit Teacher Markup

You will know you are in Teacher Markup if you see "Return to Assignment" in the top Navigation Bar

DO NOT add Annotations by Clicking VIEW. These will not save from year to year

Saving, Editing, and Assigning Templates (click on each image to see detailed instructions)

To save:

Under the gear/sprocket icon, click "Save To Template(s)."

To edit Instructor Markups:

  1. Select "Edit."
  2. At the end of the page, click "Save."
  3. On the pop-up, click "YES."

To assign to a class:

  1. Select "Assign."
  2. Choose which class will receive this assignment.
  3. Change the name of the assignment.
  4. Select "Assign" again.
