News & Updates
Hello CELC Families,
I hope you all enjoyed your weekend. My daughter's volleyball tournament was canceled on Saturday. Although it was disappointing news, we took advantage of the time at home.
Each week, the kindergarteners study a new color word. This week is yellow. Lessons and activities around the color yellow will happen throughout the week. This Wednesday, students are encouraged to wear yellow to school.
The high temperatures continued to cause us to have multiple indoor recesses last week. We are hoping that this week is cooler, drier, and calmer. Our apologies for the inconvenience caused by the front gate closure on Friday during drop off. This was done out of an abundance of caution due to the tree being partially down. The wind was making the situation unpredictable.
We are so thrilled to have our School Site Council Members ready and willing to take on the roles. Thank you for the quick response to volunteer. We sent out a message at 8:00 a.m. on Monday and had spots filled by noon! Thank you again for your support. We held our first meeting on September 8th.
Here is a list of the latest updates and news to keep you informed:
- Picture day for MVLA and CELC is September 15th. Send your cuties in their favorite shirt and a big smile.
- Our first quarterly Pastries with the Principal is scheduled for September 19th at 9:15 a.m. This is an informal opportunity for parents to connect and chat with Mrs. Ripke.
- CELC families- mark your calendars for Teddy Bear Picnic. See the flyer below.
- Thank you to those who sent headphones with their kindergarten students. It is extremely helpful and greatly appreciated.
- We had a generous donation of new backpacks dropped off. If you know any AUSD students that need a backpack, please stop by the office. They are free to anyone in need.
- Reminder: We love pets but they are not allowed on campus. Please do not bring them on campus.
The front gate opens at 8:35 a.m. for families eating breakfast on campus. Limited supervision is available at the tables beginning at 8:40 a.m.
Gates are locked by 9:10 a.m.
For the safety and security of students and staff, gates are locked during school hours.
Afternoon gates open 5 minutes before dismissal.
- Please send your student to school each day with a backpack, refillable water bottle, a healthy snack, and a lunch (unless they are getting a cafeteria lunch).
Please report any absences to your child's teacher and the office. We still are required to follow COVID protocols for illnesses. Please let the office know the reason your child is out and what symptoms they have.
We LOVE volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering in any capacity, please pick up the required paperwork in the office. All volunteers must be cleared and either be vaccinated or test negative within 7 days of the event. The office needs a copy of your CDL, and TB results to process the application.
Before and after school care is available. Please contact our ESS Coordinator, Natalija Worrell, if you have any questions at nworrell@alpineschools.net

AUSD 2022-23 LCAP GOALS
The Governor's budget for education mandated that every school district in California needs to update its Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP). The Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) is a component of the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF). The LCAP is intended to be a three-year plan to improve student achievement by setting annual goals for the district in eight priority areas. Each of the priorities has established data requirements to track district progress improving student achievement. The LCAP requires Districts to gather input from students, teachers, parents, and community members to determine the goals, actions, and budget priorities for the District. Our District staff worked together with all of our stakeholder groups to gather input and craft the draft of our Local Control Accountability Plan. Here are AUSD's 2022-23 LCAP Goals:
Goal #1: Effective Instruction and Curriculum - Provide equitable access to high-quality classroom curriculum and instruction in an inclusive environment that promotes student success.
Goal #2: Safe and Respectful Environments - Ensure all school sites are safe and have healthy and welcoming climates for staff, students, and their families so that all students feel connected and are motivated to attend and ready to learn.
Goal #3: Equitable and Culturally Responsible Systems - Ensure systems and processes eliminate barriers to student success and are equitable and culturally responsive to the needs of our students and their families.
