HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETICS
GIRLS VARSITY SOCCER
The Lady Eagles continue their unbeaten streak in October with a regular season finale win over CAL American Conference rival Vineland 1-0 in overtime last Thursday. After peppering the Vineland keeper all game, freshman Brielle VonColln finally found the back of the net off a pass from senior captain Maddie Eye for the game winner three minutes into overtime. Abby Lyon recorded her fourth shutout in five games. EHT finished the season with a conference record of 7-5, finishing in third place.
Using this momentum, EHT traveled to Cherry Hill East on Wednesday for the NJSIAA South Jersey Group IV first round playoff bout. The young EHT team played with confidence and poise, taking control of the game early. After generating numerous strong scoring opportunities in the first half, EHT finally broke through early in the second when Maddie Eye calmly finished a penalty kick in the bottom left corner. Stout defense from junior captain Angelina Horin, and sophomores Ava Kraybill and Aniyah Parker along with a key save in the closing seconds secured the victory! EHT travels to Eastern High School on Saturday at 10am for the quarterfinal match.
