The Solar Eclipse was totality AMAZING!
The students have been learning about the Solar Eclipse for the past week or so leading up to Monday. They were in complete ah on what they experienced. We are thankful for good weather in that we were able to experience this once a lifetime opportunity. A special thank you to our Watch Dogs who volunteered to help. The students were great, and I am sure they will be talking about this in years to come.

Hughston Wellness Challenge!
New April Calendar!
The coaches are excited to introduce our new wellness calendar for students. This calendar outlines various activities and initiatives aimed at promoting physical and mental well-being among our students. We hope that by engaging in these activities, students will develop healthy habits and improve their overall wellness. We encourage you and your child to participate in the activities together! Please return the calendar signed to the coaches once all the activities are completed for a prize from our treasure box. Thank you for your participation.
Texas students in the third, fourth, and fifth grades will participate in the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) this spring. STAAR is a state-required assessment program designed to measure the full range of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) in each subject area. STAAR tests include reading and mathematics in grades 3, 4, and 5, and science at grade 5. We hope that students will regard the test as important, but that they will not approach the test with undue anxiety. In accordance with state guidelines, your student will test on the dates below.
For any student who is absent on a testing day, a make-up test will be completed during the testing window. Results of all tests will be available online to parents/guardians at the end of this school year. The scores will provide teachers and other educators with information needed to help students improve achievement in mathematics, reading, and science.
As always, we wish to keep parents involved and informed about student programs. Please contact Alison Oestricher at alison.oestricher@pisd.edu if you have any questions.
