AN INNOVATIVE EDUCATION FOR A BETTER TOMORROW
2024-2025 NESC ACADEMIC CALENDAR
*Note: Please mark your calendars to indicate the early release day scheduled for 01/20/25 is being changed to 01/27/25.
**Note: One other day to mark on your calendars is February 14th. That is our first snow make up day, and we will use it to make up for the day we missed on Friday, January 10th due to inclement weather. At this time, we are planning to utilize a synchronous E-Learning day on February 14th to make up for our snow day (there will be more information on synchronous E-Learning coming in the near future). Again, please mark February 14th on your calendar as a synchronous E-Learning day to make up for the snow day we had on January 10th.

NORTH CENTRAL
Holiday Bookmarks & Stories
In December, NC Library Media students visited NEEE and NEEE to pass out homemade holiday bookmarks and blank storybooks and to read holiday books to the elementary students. This was the third year of this tradition, and it was just as wonderful as always!

Sullivan's Got Talent
Sunday, December 8 was the Sullivan's Got Talent contest. It was the fall activity put on by the Sullivan CEO Program. Jamie Huff managed to get a group picture of the NC students who are in the CEO program along with Devan Freeman and Boe Monroe who participated in the talent contest as motivational speakers. Devan and Boe won "The Judges" award as well as the "Fan Favorite" award.
Chris Wallace and Avery Pinkston did a great job with all things Technology during the talent show. Brynley Grabbe and Brooklynn Matteson worked their tails off before, during, and after the program to make sure the program ran smoothly.

Kindergarten: STEM Building & Santa
Meet Edwin Hogan, a student in Mrs. Snellenberger's Kindergarten class. Using STEM building toys, he created a structure all by himself. Mrs. Snellenberger is very proud of him and just had to share his creation!

Mini Balloon Parade
In honor of the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, Kindergarten, 2nd-grade, and 5th-grade students collaborated on a miniature balloon parade to celebrate the start of the winter holiday season. Each grade level created balloons tailored to their skills: Kindergarteners decorated balloon templates, 2nd-graders crafted and inflated aluminum foil balloons, and 5th-graders designed and built original creations. The festive parade wound through the hallways, showcasing the students’ creativity and teamwork, spreading holiday cheer throughout the school.
Oversized Snowflakes
Kindergarten students took on a festive challenge to create oversized snowflake ornaments for Sullivan County's community Christmas tree. Using 16 plastic clothes hangers, zip ties, and sparkly decorations, the young crafters, with a little help, assembled 15-inch ornaments. The students worked together, tugging zip ties and adding finishing touches of glitter to complete the dazzling snowflakes. Their creations were proudly displayed on the community tree, and photos shared on Facebook received an outpouring of compliments, spreading holiday joy far and wide!
Penny Wars
Northeast East Elementary Student Council sponsored a Penny Wars. Students could add pennies and dollar bills to their class bucket in order to add points for their class or they could add silver coins to another class bucket in order to take away their points. Student Council members spent their Encore and recess time counting money. After all the money was counted, 4th grade was the winner of the Penny War and received a pizza party before Christmas Break.
The Penny War raised over $1100. Student Council members used some of this money to purchase gifts for all of the residents at The Waters of Sullivan. They delivered the gifts before Christmas and sang Christmas Carols for the residents. Students also bought candy and toys to donate to Christmas for Kids. The remaining money raised was then given as a donation to the Sullivan County Salvation Army.
After all of their hard work shopping, Student Council members enjoyed pizza and spending time together.
