Half Way Class of 2025!
You are almost half way there, class of 2025! There are so many exciting things happening right now too. Many of you have found out you have gotten into your dream schools, while others are still waiting to hear. Either way the excitement of your futures is really brewing and we can feel that in the hallways and the classrooms. The next part and sometimes the most nerve wracking part, is figuring out how to pay for it, and that is where this newsletter comes in. For the next few months, pay close attention! There will be a lot of new scholarships listed and many local scholarships, which are meant just for YOU, our very own North Davidson Students!

New General Scholarships!
NC State Employees Credit Union People Helping People Scholarship
Purpose: The SECU People Helping People Scholarship is valued at $10,000 and awarded over a maximum of eight consecutive semesters to pay for tuition and fees. This scholarship is only available to graduating public high school seniors who are either current members of SECU or the child of a parent/guardian who is a member of SECU. Students must have a 2.5 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) or higher, plan on attending one of the 16 UNC System universities, demonstrate leadership, excellence of character, integrity, and community involvement.

2025 Matthew C. Graziadei Achievement Scholarship Award
This award includes a $1,500 scholarship, to be used for any post high school learning experience/training or for equipment/technology needed for employment. ELIGIBILITY: ALL North Carolina students with disabilities are eligible for nomination. Including students enrolled in the Occupation Course of Study, students who will be receiving a Graduate Certificate and students enrolled in the Future Ready Course of Study.

Community Impact Scholarship
Award: $2500
Requirements: Demonstrate active involvement in community service and exhibit strong leadership qualities; Have a GPA of 3.5 or higher

DC Extension Master Gardener Volunteer Association Educational Scholarship
This scholarship is for a student who plans on seeking a degree preferably in horticulture or related plant/agricultural science. The award is $1,000. Eligible students must have a demonstrated unweighted GPA of 2. 50 or above. Volunteer experience will be considered.

The Golden Leaf Scholarship
The Golden LEAF Scholarship is designed to assist current North Carolina high school seniors and North Carolina community college transfer students. Recipients must be from certain rural counties, plan to attend a participating North Carolina college or university, demonstrate financial need, and express an intent to return to a rural North Carolina community upon college graduation. The scholarship is funded by the Golden LEAF Foundation through a grant to the North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority.
Award: Up to $14,000
Requirements: Be a North Carolina resident for tuition purposes and reside in a qualifying rural North Carolina County as identified by the Golden LEAF Foundation (Davidson County is qualifying) and complete the NC Residency Determination. Be a graduating North Carolina high school senior or a currently enrolled North Carolina community college transfer student enrolling full-time (degree seeking) in the fall at a participating North Carolina public or private college/university. Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5. Have a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Expected Family Contribution (EFC) that does not exceed the maximum permitted by Golden LEAF and express an intent to return to a rural North Carolina community upon college graduation.

R. Flake Shaw Scholarship
This scholarship is for students pursuing higher education in an agricultural-related discipline. The award amount varies dependent upon if the student is attending a 4 year of 2 year school.

Wilma L. McCurdy Memorial Fund
Award funds will vary for this scholarship. Applicants should be a worthy students who are permanent residents of Anson, Cabarrus, Davidson, Montgomery, Rowan, Stanly, and Union County, North Carolina. Have a minimum cumulative unweighted GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale. Demonstrate financial need. Be planning to attend full-time Mars Hill University, Gardner-Webb University, Wingate University, Meredith College, Wake Forest University, Campbell University, or Chowan University.

NC Association of School Resource Officers Scholarship Guidelines
Purpose: This scholarship fund was established by the Board of Directors of the North Carolina
Association of School Resource Officers (NCASRO) in 2018. Eligible candidates must be high
school seniors on track to graduate, who are entering an accredited two or four-year college or
university. Strong consideration will be given to financial need, but scholastic standing will also
be very important along with participation in extra-curricular activities, personal reputation and
moral integrity within the standards of NCASRO. Candidates must have a minimum GPA of 2.5.

Edgar and Lois Reich Educational Foundation Scholarship
Applicants must be high school seniors, current college students or graduate students. Have been born and reside in Forsyth County or Davidson County, North Carolina and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in the field of Education or Dental Science. Applicants should demonstrate academic achievement, financial need, involvement in civic and social activities. Applicants should be planning to attend a four year college or university and have an unweighted GPA between a 2.0 and 4.0

Davidson County Farm Bureau Scholarship
Davidson County Farm Bureau has a college scholarship. The amount of the scholarship is up to
$1000 per student, subject to the Board of Directors discretion. This scholarship provides assistance for Davidson County students seeking higher education in an agricultural related field. This would include four-year Universities, Technical Schools, and Community Colleges. Student must have at least a "B" average.

Energy United - Empowering the Future
$5,000 Scholarship in which students must reside in a home or school that is serviced by Energy United and students must plan to attend a college, university or technical school during the 2025 – 2026 academic year.

Davidson-Davie Achievement Scholarship
The Davidson-Davie Community College Foundation offers a limited number of scholarships to graduating high school seniors who enroll at Davidson-Davie Community College. Some of these scholarships reward merit while others take financial need into consideration. This is NOT the same scholarship as the Davidson-Davie Advantage Scholarship, which is what you can receive if you have already taken a certain number of classes there and followed all requirements (FAFSA, RDS, and Application).
If you plan to attend Davidson-Davie in the Fall of 2025, please complete the attached application and return to Mrs. Freeman no later than April 1st!
Silver Pen Scholarship
This scholarship is worth $1250 to $2500. To apply, you must write a 1000 word essay on this topic:
How have the extracurricular programs such as music, art, and/or sports teams helped with your educational and personal growth? How do you feel it would affect the education system if they were taken away?

The Nicholas Vincent Melomo Award For Courage and Kindness
To be eligible for the Nicholas Vincent Melomo Scholarship/Award, candidates should be enrolled in Enloe or North Davidson High Schools. Applicants should have faced significant obstacles in pursuing their education, and their persevering with courage and kindness despite these obstacles. The “obstacles” can derive from issues to a students’ physical or mental health, or family and life circumstances (e.g. cancer, chronic disease, death of a parent or sibling, pregnancy, or homelessness). The student’s “persevering with courage and kindness” can be
evidenced simply by their interest in continuing their education, despite their hardship, and doing so in a way that reflects Nicholas’ own courage in pursuing a life that inspires others through kindness and concern for others.
Applicants should include their name and respond in essay form to the following:
1. Give a brief description of your obstacles and a brief statement about your character and actions relevant to persevering with courage and kindness.
2. Describe in detail life experiences that required you to show courage, resilience, determination and explain
how you responded to the situation.
3. Describe in details, ways in your life that you have exhibited kindness for others and enthusiasm for life.
4. Provide letters of endorsement from two adults in your life giving examples that you have shown courage and kindness.
Deadline: Applications must be made by April 15, 2025.

Joytime Scholarship

Gamma Alpha Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma
This is a $1000 non-renewable scholarship for female high school seniors maintaining at least a "B" average and wanting to enter the field of education. Applicants must be entering a four-year institution or transfer prorgram at a community college to pursue a four-year degree in the teaching field. Recipient will be notified and invited as a guest to attend the April 22 2025 meeting at 6pm of the Gamma Alpha Chapter. Recipient must attend the meeting to accept this scholarship.

Grow AG Leaders Scholarship
Grow Ag Leaders exists to make youth aware of the various career opportunities within the industry of agriculture by providing scholarships that help further their education. The Bayer Fund, a philanthropic arm of Bayer, offers $1,500 scholarships to students pursuing a career in various sects of agriculture.
In order to apply for this scholarship, students must meet the below criteria:
- Must be a high school senior (public, private or home-schooled) or enrolled in college full-time (minimum of 12 credit hours).
- Must be planning to pursue a degree in a qualifying area of study.
- Must be planning to attend a vocational, 2-year or 4-year qualifying ag related study program after high school.
- Must meet a minimum 2.5 GPA requirement.
- Must obtain no less than two electronic endorsements from qualifying farmers.

Hagan Scholarship Foundation
The Hagan Scholarship is a nationwide need-based merit scholarship, designed to provide recipients with the opportunity to graduate college debt-free. Applicants must attend a traditional public high school governed by a school district. Free workshops, Free Schwab Brokerage Accounts and Free Study Abroad provide recipients with a practical understanding of important life skills not typically covered in the school curriculum. Recipients graduating college while in the Hagan Scholarship Program can apply for a Hagan Graduate Scholarship good for up to four additional consecutive semesters.
The Hagan Scholarship provides up to $7,500 each semester for up to 8 consecutive semesters, workshops to learn important life skills not typically covered in the college curriculum, funds to purchase college essentials, an HSF Schwab Brokerage Account to manage, funds to study and travel abroad, and the opportunity to extend the Hagan Scholarship to obtain a graduate or profession degree.
Judge George Fuller Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a Davidson County student. In order to apply, please complete the General Scholarship Application through Davie Community Foundation. This general application will match you to all "matching" scholarships.

Klenk Law Community Scholarship
- This scholarship is valued at $300. The scholarship applicant must be dedicated to and exemplify strong community leadership in any community they are part of, as illustrated in their essay response.

NC Teaching Fellows
High school applicants or applicants with fewer than 24 hours of college credit must have a minimum unweighted high school GPA of 3.0. While not required, we strongly encourage applicants to submit an SAT and/or ACT score. Applicants with more than 24 hours of college credit must have a minimum of a 2.7 cumulative GPA. Be willing to teach in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) or special education licensure area in a North Carolina public school, traditional or charter. Award is $5,000 per semester.
