A Word From Mrs. Loor
Dear Franklin Families,
We had a great School Counseling Spirit Week! My favorite day was Monday where teachers dressed like students and students dressed like teachers. We also had the stage band, Bel Canto (select choir), and chamber orchestra from LCJSMS perform for us on Tuesday. It's always amazing to see our Franklin alumni return and watch how much they have grown as musicians.
Due to our snow day, the 5th grade Living Wax Museum has been moved to this Thursday, February 13th. Don't forget to send in your children with quarters! We will have a whole school morning meeting to celebrate Valentine's Day as a school community on Friday.
Just a reminder that it is Single Session Day tomorrow (2/10) with dismissal at 12:30 pm.
Have a lovely week! Happy Valentine's Day!
With Warmest Regards,
Mrs. Loor

RECOVERY SHOES
Recovery shoes are becoming very popular. Many pro, collegiate, high school and even club youth teams are wearing recovery shoes post work-out.
Key points about recovery shoes:
Purpose: Designed to provide comfort and cushioning to tired feet after intense activity, not to actively perform exercise.
Best use: Wearing them around the house, running errands, or for short walks after a workout.
Potential drawbacks for exercise: May not provide adequate support or traction for vigorous activity, potentially increasing injury risk.
While you can technically wear recovery shoes for some light exercise like walking or very low-intensity activities, they are primarily designed for post-workout recovery and not intended for strenuous exercise like running or heavy lifting, as they usually lack the necessary support and stability needed for high-impact activities; it's best to stick to dedicated athletic shoes for workouts and save recovery shoes for casual wear after exercise.
**Please note, students wearing recovery shoes will not be permitted to participate in PE or active recess.**
If you have any medical questions or concerns never hesitate to reach out to our school nurse, Ann Zanelli. Her email is azanelli@summit.k12.nj.us. You can also visit the Summit Public Schools Virtual Health Office for additional information.
