Back to School Information

I am excited to share with you the first Cub Hub for the 2023-2024 school year. The district data roll over occurred this weekend. That means our messaging systems reflect current student registration. If your neighbor did not receive this communication, it may mean one of several things. 1) They have not completed registration for the upcoming school year. 2)There is a typo in their email address or they did not include all email addresses. 3) The email is going to spam or is blocked. Feel free to forward this newsletter to families as you see fit.

The weekly Smore will be my OFFICIAL method of communicating with our families. Each Friday at 5:00 pm, you will see the Smore for the upcoming week. Each year, I purchase the Smore subscription. This means that I create a new Cub Hub each week. You will be able to go back and look at Cub Hubs from weeks prior. This archive may be handy as you can refer back for information.

Take care and rest up! The new school year is almost here. I am looking forward to seeing all of our Cubs soon.

Tuesday, August 8th, is an opportunity for Kinder students and their parents to come to Bear Creek. After a self-guided tour from 5:00 - 5:30, all participants will meet in the cafeteria. Parents will stay for a Kindergarten 101 meeting. During this time parents will learn about all things Bear Creek. Students will leave with teachers for activities and games in the Kinder Classrooms. These activities will help your child become comfortable about the first day of school. Your child will not be assigned a specific teacher that evening. There will be a follow up communication about the class assignments on Wednesday.

Please return Thursday, August 10th for Meet the Teacher. Meet the Teacher is the ideal time to connect to your child's teacher and bring school supplies.

Mark you calendar! In order to accommodate the lack of parking, we are requesting that you Meet the Teacher during the above times. You will be able to bring school supplies, take Back to School photos, stop in a see PTA, and connect with Bear Creek families.

Families will receive an email Wednesday afternoon sharing teacher assignments for the 2023-2024 school year.

Walking, biking, and golf carting is appreciated. Golf Cart parking will be available behind the school in the bus loop.

The mission of CACs is to promote excellence in education for all students through broad-based representation. CACs provide valuable input to principals, who ultimately have decision-making responsibility for their campuses.

It is with great pleasure to announce that Kristi Campbell is out Interim AP. Even though Mrs. Campbell's first official day was today (Monday), she met with Ms. Engel last week to tackle tasks and prepare for the 2023-2024 school year. Her arrival and tremendous skill set are such a blessing as we get ready to greet our Cubs!

A word from Mrs. Campbell is below:

I am excited to begin the school year as your substitute (interim?) assistant principal. In the past, I have been a classroom teacher, instructional coach, assistant principal, and principal, all in Hays CISD. I took several years off to be home with my young daughters, and now I enjoy volunteering at their school and substituting as an administrator. My family and I live in Meridian, so I feel right at home here in the Circle C community, and I look forward to helping start off a great year here at Bear Creek!

Our beautiful building was in need of some TLC. Many families came in June to tidy up the grounds and assist with cleaning. Our district paint crews were here for a week touching up walls, repairing damage, and cleaning areas of great need.

Some lessons learned:

• Command Hooks damage these walls. My favorite tool to use is a no-no for here.
• Respect for Environment. We need to reinforce with our Cubs what respect for the building looks like. It's a group effort to keep our building looking fresh.
