We are excited to announce that Report Card Conferences will take place on November 26, 2024. This is a valuable opportunity for you to engage with our dedicated teachers and staff about your child's academic progress and development. We highly encourage you to attend these conferences, as they provide an essential forum for discussing your child's strengths, areas for improvement, and overall growth in the school environment. Denial of Credit
The continuity of the educational process is best served by regular classroom experiences. Consistent attendance is an integral part of a student’s education. Frequent student absenteeism impedes instruction that cannot be entirely regained. Consequently, irregular attendance is a frequent cause of student failure and a violation of the state’s compulsory attendance laws. Therefore, the Chester Upland School District expects to promote student attendance. In accordance with this expectation, the following measures have been adopted for the 2024-2025 school year and beyond:
1. To obtain academic credit for a course, students must be in attendance and have their attendance recorded at least 90% of the time that a class/course is scheduled. Failure to attend at least 90% of the scheduled classes of any course will result in a denial of credit for that course.
2. When a student accumulates four or more unexcused absences for any half-year class/course and eight or more unexcused absences in any full-year class/course, the student and parent/guardian will be notified for a mandatory meeting regarding academics, denial of credit, and attendance.
3. The parent/guardian must acknowledge in writing that they received the information regarding the denial of credit.
The staff at Chester High School is working diligently to ensure that all students meet the Pennsylvania Department Education Standards to advance to the next grade and continue to meet all requirements for promotion and graduation. As a result, we provide opportunities for students to attend the CHS After School Program to meet the requirements of those lost classroom hours.
