Bonham Lady Warrior Report

A new era of Lady Warrior Basketball has begun under the leadership of our new head coach, Ashley Crockett. Coach Crockett is a Sherman High School graduate where she lettered in volleyball, softball, basketball, and track. Ashley played collegiate basketball at LeTourneau University in Longview and was an assistant coach there as well. Since joining us in June, she has been very involved with our Lady Warriors and has been working extremely hard to get them ready for the season.

Our Lady Warriors defeated Cooper 44-40 in the season opener. Hingrid Pedraza led the team with 17 points, 4 rebounds, 8 steals. Gray Lancaster had 8 points and 3 steals.

In the 2nd game of the season, we hosted Community in a close and very physical matchup. We fell short in the end, 44-35.

On 11/12, our varsity notched their 2nd win out of the first 3 games with a 46-27 victory over Pilot Point.

Our JV has started their season 2-0 with wins over Cooper and Community. They did not play on 11/12 due to Pilot Point not having a JV team.

This will be our 2nd year to implement a portion of our off-season plan to sports specific skills. While the strength and conditioning phase is of utmost importance, it's equally important to give our coaches some individual time to focus on skills such as ball handling, hitting, hurdle work, fielding technique, jumping, block work, tennis serving, etc.. It also gives coaches a head start in player and position selection prior to the start of the season.

Judith Manzanares (sophomore) represented BHS at the regional meet held at Lynn Creek Park in Grand Prairie. She finished 51st out of 159 runners in Class 4A. This was Judith's 2nd trip to regionals and she now holds the top 2 times at BHS since 2008. We look forward to big things from Judith in her junior and senior seasons.

After a week one cancellation due to weather/hazardous travel, our Jr. High Lady Indians hosted Bells on Monday, 11/11. We won 2 out of 3 games. Bells did not have a 7B team.
