Bridges in Mathematics Parent Feedback!
Your child has been engaging with Bridges in Mathematics during the first semester. Over this time, you’ve had the opportunity to learn more about the program through communications from the school and the math materials your child brings home. We would greatly appreciate your feedback as part of our ongoing evaluation process.
Please take a moment to complete this parent feedback form, as your insights will be valuable in shaping our approach to elementary math adoption in the coming years. Your input will be reviewed and considered carefully. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts — we look forward to hearing from you and appreciate your contribution to this important process!
- Yearbook sales begin on September 9, 2024 and will be open for orders through March 21, 2025 for $30.00 until the deadline.
- If there are extra yearbooks available to purchase, the cost will be $40.00 CASH the last week of school.
Early Check Out Please Help Us!
Dear French Valley Parents/Guardians,
I am sharing this with you because early checkouts have become a concern at FVES. On a light day, we may have 10-15 students checked out early, and on a heavier day (Fridays), we can have up to 30-50 students checked out early(15 -60 minutes early)!
Why do we discourage Early Check Out?
Instructional/Learning Disruptions: When we call a classroom for a student, the teacher often needs to stop the learning activity or direct instruction for the entire class to help the student get packed up and communicate what assignment the student may need to complete at home. In many cases, younger students also need an adult to escort them to the office. This adult is often pulled from supporting other students to help escort the child.
Academic Impact: Missing class time can negatively impact a student's learning and academic performance. Students are often checked out 30 minutes to an hour early, but even short absences(10 minutes early check out) can result in missed instruction, which can be challenging to make up, potentially affecting the student’s grades and understanding of the material.
Routine and Structure: Schools aim to provide a structured and consistent environment for students. Regular attendance is crucial for maintaining a routine that supports learning and development. Frequent early check outs can disrupt a student’s sense of stability and routine.
Social and Emotional Impact: Leaving school early can affect a student's social interactions and emotional well-being. They might miss important social activities, fun activities, peer interactions, or special events that are integral to their school experience. When students miss instruction or can’t complete an assignment due to an early check-out, they may become anxious and even disheartened.
Front Office Impact: Our front office staff accomplish a multitude of tasks each day to ensure that our school runs smoothly. At times, our office staff can be pulled away from these essential tasks for up to an hour at the end of the school day with early check outs.
What can you do to help us?
Please do your best to schedule all appointments and family activities after the school day. We understand that sparingly it may be necessary to schedule an appointment during the school day. We especially request that early check out does not occur during the last 30 minutes of the day, as students often miss valuable instruction, engaging activities, information, and last-minute details.
Thank you for your cooperation!
VISITORS: FRIDAY FLAG SALUTE ASSEMBLIES
Friday Flag Salute Assemblies begin at 8:55 a.m. every Friday. If your child is being recognized at Friday Flag Salute, you will receive an invitation to attend Friday Flag from your child's Teacher.
Visitors should arrive no later than 8:45am and enter through the front office. All visitors will be asked to sign in and be given a flag sticker as they enter the office. Please ensure that you wear the sticker at all times while on our campus. Our Flag Salute Assembly includes school announcements and special recognitions of students that last approximately 15 minutes. Once the assembly is over, please exit through the front office.
PHOTO ID REQUIRED
This is a friendly reminder that parents/guardians must show an official photo ID when visiting, volunteering, or checking out their child early from the front office.
VOLUNTEERS: ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW
To help ensure the safety of our students and staff and to protect our highly regarded instructional programs, TVUSD has identified an application and clearance process for community members that wish to volunteer.
If your child's teacher communicates a need for volunteers, the link below provides information regarding requirements of Volunteers.
