Happy Friday Cougar Families!As I hope you are aware we are in the middle of our governing board election. Ballots were mailed out last Friday and should have all been delivered by now. I want to remind you that they have to be in our possession by 3:30 on Wednesday September 28. They can be returned by mail or hand delivered. Any ballots that are received after 3:30 PM on September 28 cannot be included in the count.

I want to thank our PTO for sponsoring the community candidates forum on Wednesday. All of the candidates did a fantastic job. I learned that they all love Steele Canyon and want to maximize the learning experiences for our current and future students through fiscal responsibility and transparency. We recorded the forum so please click here if you were not able to attend.

Yesterday marked the first day of Hispanic Heritage Month. We are proud to support our students and honor the contributions and influence of Hispanic Americans to the history, culture, and achievements for the United States. We celebrated today at lunch with music and dancing in the quad and we have a group of staff and students who are planning events throughout the month.

Steele Canyon is pleased to offer a mentorship opportunity for students on Wednesday mornings from 8:30 to 9:30am (students can arrive as early as 8:30am). Guest mentor Jelani Matthews is offering this mentorship program on Wednesday mornings to provide students with an opportunity to focus on developing their identity and discovering who they want to be.

MDSL Program Mission: To empower students to develop multidimensional skill sets that lead to positive life outcomes. We address the issues and obstacles that prevent success in social, emotional, and academic performance. Please register your student Registration Form

Here are the details:

The program will run every wednesday for 15 weeks beginning the week of Sept 21 through Dec 21st., excluding the week of thanksgiving. Dates include: Sept 21st and 28th, Oct 5, 12, 19, 26, November 2nd, 9, 16, 30 and Dec 7, 14, 21. Meetings begin at 8:30am in E207.

PTO hosted an informative Candidate Forum on Monday, 09/12/22! Thank you to the seven candidates running for the two vacant Community Board Member seats on the SCHS Governing Board; each candidate provided us an opportunity to learn a little bit more about them and their qualifications for the Board. Winter competition cheer team tryouts are Tuesday Sept 20th @5pm in the mezzanine. Must be cleared through the finance office to participate!

10th-12th graders: sign up in Naviance to see these colleges present in the counseling office! Students can come to learn about different schools' admission processes, requirements, and financial aid. College Representatives from all around come and present, and students can register for these on Naviance under "Colleges > Visits"
